(Dan Sinh) - With dedication and enthusiasm in caring for the children being raised at the unit, Linh Xuan Child Care and Protection Center under the Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs of Ho Chi Minh City has constantly innovated care and teaching methods, updated security and order work, brought a full life and ensured that children develop in a green, clean and beautiful environment.

Building a green, clean and beautiful environment contributes to improving the quality of teaching and learning.

Linh Xuan Child Care and Protection Center is a center for care, rehabilitation and education for orphans and children infected with HIV/AIDS in Ho Chi Minh City, located in Linh Xuan Ward, Thu Duc City.

Sharing with reporters, Ms. Nguyen Ly Ngoc Thu, Director of the Center, said that the Center is currently raising and caring for 61 orphans, including 31 boys and 30 girls.

Children are cared for and play in a green, clean and beautiful environment.

It is known that most of the children here are still quite young, so the care and nurturing work will be more difficult and arduous. However, to overcome the challenges and successfully complete the assigned tasks, the Party Cell and the Board of Directors of the Center have developed a plan from the beginning of the year, sent it to the departments and specialized offices for implementation.

Combined with the spirit of determination and solidarity, the Center has successfully completed key tasks and achieved outstanding achievements such as properly implementing the nutrition regime for social protection beneficiaries according to the Decree of the Government and the People's Council of Ho Chi Minh City, taking care of meals and sleep for children being cared for at the Center.

In addition, the Center always tries its best to mobilize support from organizations, donors and philanthropists to bring a better quality of life and ensure nutrition in every meal for the children.

For infants and children with malnutrition, the center will adjust the diet and supplement nutrients appropriate to the child's physical condition.

The inside of the center is covered with trees.

“The children’s health is always a priority, and daily food samples are kept and monitored by specialized departments. If food is found to be unsafe, whether at the initial stage or after processing, the Center will destroy it according to regulations. Therefore, there have not been any cases of food poisoning in the past year,” said Ms. Nguyen Ly Ngoc Thu.

Along with that, Ms. Thu also shared that medical care for children is also very focused, the child care departments at the center will coordinate with the medical station to promote medical examination and treatment activities.

The center always follows the correct care process and complies with ARV treatment. The center has examined and treated 995 children, provided ARV treatment to 56 cases, 3 children used psychotropic drugs, 2 children used TB prevention. At the same time, 66 children were transferred to higher-level hospitals, of which 5 children received physical therapy and 12 children received expanded vaccination.

The center always focuses on food safety and hygiene in every meal for children.

Ensure a healthy living environment

Ms. Nguyen Ly Ngoc Thu shared: “The children raised and cared for at the center are mostly young children, susceptible to minor illnesses such as fever, cough, sore throat, mouth ulcers, etc. In order to increase the children's resistance, in addition to providing nutrients, the center also regularly organizes cleaning, spraying insecticide, and disinfecting the surrounding area.”

In addition, the staff who directly care for the children always clean the rooms, disinfect toys and daily necessities. To raise the children's awareness of hygiene, the center also guides them to disinfect and wash their hands with Chloramine B every day, and participate in planting and caring for trees.

Last year, the Center also coordinated with the Faculty of Industrial Fine Arts of Ton Duc Thang University to organize the program "Christmas of Love", giving gifts according to children's wishes; repainting children's rooms; replacing new curtains, new light bulbs; repairing old cabinets, supporting new plastic cabinets to store things for children in the Pediatrics and Women's departments.

The center regularly organizes many programs for children to participate in tree planting.

In addition, the center always pays special attention to cultural education for children. In the 2021-2022 school year, the center arranged for 55 children to study culture and 7 children to learn a trade. At present, the center has 39 children studying culture and 7 children learning a trade. In addition, the center also organizes training courses such as "Public communication skills" for 15 children of the male and female departments, training for 50 children to find information on jobs and accommodation when they grow up, telephone communication skills, etc.

With the expected results and achievements, Linh Xuan Child Care and Protection Center will continue to carry out and complete its tasks well. Ensuring that social protection beneficiaries are received, managed, provided with health care, educated and resolved to reintegrate into the community in accordance with regulations.

To enhance safety and vigilance, the center continues to coordinate with local authorities to ensure absolute safety for children, comply with fire prevention and fighting regulations. Together, we promote food hygiene and safety, maintain environmental hygiene, plant more trees, and contribute to improving the health of children being managed and cared for at the unit.
