Long Bien district has implemented the measles vaccination campaign for children from 6 to under 9 months old very vigorously and early. The district health center has promoted and mobilized, gone to every alley, knocked on every door, checked every subject to invite them to get vaccinated; striving to complete or exceed the targets assigned by the city before March 31.

“Long Bien District organized a peak measles vaccination campaign for children from 6 to under 9 months old on Sunday. The district also planned to organize vaccinations on weekdays until March 31 to continue screening children who have not been fully vaccinated; children due to population movements and children from 1 to 10 years old who have not been vaccinated from previous campaigns to prevent and control measles, avoiding outbreaks" - Ms. Do Thi Thu Ha emphasized.

At the vaccination point of Thach Ban Ward Health Station, the ward currently has 49 children aged 6-8 months old eligible for vaccination, of which 36 children have been vaccinated against measles, reaching a rate of 73.46%.

Mr. Nguyen Hong Thanh (residing in Thach Ban ward, Long Bien district) said that his family took their child to get vaccinations for disease prevention services. However, his 7-month-old child has not been vaccinated against measles and was invited to get vaccinated under the campaign.

At Phuc Loi Ward Health Station, there are 56 subjects eligible for vaccination this time. Of these, 43 children have been vaccinated, reaching a rate of 76.78%.

Bringing his 9-month-old child for vaccination, Mr. Nguyen Tien Dat (Phuc Loi ward, Long Bien district) shared: “My family registered for the vaccination service package for my child. However, when my child was old enough to be vaccinated, he got sick, so he still hasn't been vaccinated against measles. When the Phuc Loi ward health station launched the measles vaccination campaign, I brought my child to get vaccinated early to prevent the disease.”

Deputy Director of the Hanoi Department of Health Vu Cao Cuong said that during the week, the whole city recorded 182 measles cases, an increase compared to previous weeks. Accumulated from 2025 to now, the city recorded 1,058 measles cases, appearing in 30/30 districts, towns, an increase compared to 2024.

At the end of 2024, the Hanoi Department of Health implemented a measles vaccination campaign for children aged 1-5 years old, reaching a rate of over 96.6% of children vaccinated against measles. Immediately after that, the city continued to implement a measles vaccination campaign for children aged 6 to under 9 months. By the end of March 20, 30/30 districts had implemented the vaccination campaign for nearly 18,000 children, reaching 86%.

The city has also established four inspection and supervision teams at vaccination sites in the area; ensuring that, following the direction of the Government and the Ministry of Health, by March 31, all districts will have over 95% of children of the right age vaccinated against measles.

At the end of the monitoring session, Director of the Department of Disease Prevention Hoang Minh Duc highly appreciated Hanoi for organizing a good campaign to vaccinate children against measles. "With this speed, Hanoi will reach the finish line and achieve the target of over 95% of children of the right age to be vaccinated against measles according to the plan. I am very impressed with the organization of propaganda and screening of subjects in Long Bien district" - Director Hoang Minh Duc expressed.

Through this, Director of the Department of Disease Prevention Hoang Minh Duc also sent a message to mothers with children aged 6-9 months and 1-10 years old to bring their children to get vaccinated against measles as soon as possible so that the work of preventing and fighting measles epidemics can be most effective.

Hanoi has a very high population density and strong population movement, so the risk of measles is high. Since October 2024, Hanoi has proactively implemented measles vaccination for high-risk groups from 1 to 5 years old.

Realizing that the group of children aged 6 to under 9 months is at high risk, Hanoi proposed, issued a plan, directed early and very strongly to vaccinate these groups. By the end of March 21, Hanoi had achieved over 86% of children of this age group vaccinated against measles.

However, due to population movements, screening data is always changing, and it is necessary to regularly update the subjects for immediate vaccination. In addition, some parents still do not trust vaccines, so the city has increased communication to change people's awareness. Vaccination is one of the most effective measures to prevent measles and avoid widespread outbreaks.
