Image of a woman taking a 200,000 VND note from a foreign tourist's hand for a small bag of apples - Photo cut from clip
On March 15, a clip went viral on social media about a foreign tourist buying apples from a street vendor on Thuy Khue Street, Tay Ho District (Hanoi) and almost being "ripped off" 200,000 VND for a small bag of apples.
Specifically, the clip recorded two Western tourists being invited by a fruit seller to try an apple. After that, the tourist asked the fruit seller: "How much?" (How much? - PV).
Because he didn't understand English, the fruit seller just nodded, wrapped the small bag of apples and gave it to the tourist, while taking the 200,000 VND bill from the foreign girl's hand.
Because the number of apples was small, the two tourists did not agree with the amount of 200,000 VND and asked the street vendor to return the change, but the vendor refused to return it.
Then, the street vendor was about to leave when the female tourist returned the bag of apples and kept saying: No, no (no, no).
The street vendor immediately panicked, picked up the mango and guava and asked: "Can I have this too?". The Western female tourist shook her head and refused, saying she wanted her original money back.
But the street vendor still insisted on keeping the 200,000 VND, causing both sides to struggle. After that, the street vendor put his hand in his pocket to find his change.
Witnessing the story, a male security guard nearby approached the seller and asked: "How much is it, ma'am?"
"I have 50 thousand, I was going to give him some more" - said the street vendor.
"50 thousand and this much? Don't do that, give them back the money" - the security guard said.
The clip received a lot of attention from the public after being posted. Many people think that the female street vendor is tarnishing the image of Hanoi, Vietnam tourism in the eyes of international tourists.

Regarding the incident, speaking with Tuoi Tre Online on the evening of March 15, a leader of the People's Committee of Tay Ho District (Hanoi) said that the district had grasped the content of the clip and transferred it to the People's Committee of Thuy Khue Ward.
Informing Tuoi Tre Online , the leader of Thuy Khue Ward People's Committee said that he had directed the ward police to investigate the incident.
“The ward will determine whether this street vendor and his location are in the area or not. If they are identified, they will be invited to be fined, and at the same time, they will also propagate and remind other street vendors in the area.
If this is true, it will damage the image and lose points with foreign tourists. We must increase propaganda and strictly punish violations to preserve the image of Hanoi tourism" - said the leader of Thuy Khue Ward People's Committee.
