From growing tea, Mr. Bui Van Linh's family in Tan Phu village, Phu Thanh commune has a stable income of 300 million VND/year.

The entire Phu Thanh commune currently has over 130 hectares of tea, mainly the new LDP1 tea variety with high efficiency and productivity, of which 120 hectares are in the commercial period. Identifying tea as a key crop bringing high and sustainable economic efficiency, in recent years, the Party Committee and the commune government have promoted and mobilized people to apply organic methods to their gardens, use biological fertilizers and pesticides in production, apply water-saving irrigation systems and mechanize harvesting to replace human labor.

Mr. Bui Van Linh - a tea grower in the commune shared: His family currently has 1.4 hectares, growing tea for over 15 years. The current price is from 200 - 250 thousand VND/kg of dry tea. With this area, after deducting expenses, the family earns nearly 300 million VND in profit each year. Thoroughly applying the method of organicizing the tea garden, at the end of every crop in October and November, the family plows the soil once, fertilizes with decomposed fertilizers such as buffalo, cow, chicken, duck manure... composted for 6 months to 1 year before fertilizing, without using chemical fertilizers.

As the tea hills gradually adapt to the new farming method, the economic efficiency is also reflected in the significantly reduced care costs compared to using chemical fertilizers and pesticides. The soil is no longer hard but becomes loose and easy to cultivate. The tea plants are healthy, grow well, and have stable productivity. The soil, water, and air environments are gradually improved. From care, harvesting to drying, all are done by machines. Therefore, the productivity, economic efficiency, and quality of tea have been improved, meeting the increasingly strict demands of the market. In particular, the quality of tea has changed significantly, fresh tea buds are bright green, the tea leaves are thick, the shoots are short, and when brewed, they have a strong flavor and a characteristic aroma. Currently, the output of fresh tea buds in Phu Thanh commune is from 20 to 25 tons/ha. After deducting costs, tea growers earn a profit of over 200 million VND/ha/year.

Currently, the dry tea products of Lac Thuy district have been recognized by the Provincial People's Committee as 4-star OCOP products, and have been granted a trademark certificate by the Department of Intellectual Property. To protect and promote the value of the "Song Boi Tea" brand, Lac Thuy district continues to direct the transfer and application of advanced science and technology in production. Mobilize people to convert ineffective mixed gardens to grow tea. At the same time, strengthen propaganda, introduction and promotion to affirm the position of the "Song Boi Tea" product to domestic and foreign consumers, helping farmers increase their income and reduce poverty right on their homeland.
