Happy unification, celebrate the country on the path of innovation!

These last days of April, we recall the joy of Spring 49 years ago, when the South was completely liberated, the mountains and rivers were connected, and the North and South were reunited. It was even more joyful when the burning desire of Uncle Ho and the entire Vietnamese people became a reality after more than twenty years of loss and blood sacrifice, which only a nation that never surrenders like Vietnam can do.

Our nation's resistance war against the US to save the country ended with the brilliant victory of the Ho Chi Minh Campaign in the Spring of 1975, which deserves to be recorded in history as the pinnacle of the patriotic tradition and the miraculous art of people's war, of which President Ho Chi Minh is the crystallization of those noble values.

The struggle for independence, freedom, peace and unification has fused the fate of each person, each family and clan with the fate of the entire nation. The Hien Luong Bridge across the Ben Hai River was once a pain of division, a symbol of the aspiration for national unification, and still exists alongside National Highway 1A and many other long, wide roads, opening up new development space for the country in all regions.

The glorious past and the just struggle are always respected and appreciated. Moreover, it is also a reminder of the love for peace, the spirit of reconciliation, national harmony, for new and happy lives. Because a strong nation is a nation that always knows how to uphold humanity, knows how to put an end to the story of winning and losing to look towards the future.

The victory of April 30, 1975 brought all the quintessential values ​​of the era when it closed more than 20 years of hardship and sacrifice under the invaders' heels, opening a new journey of the era of independence and socialism for the country.

Looking back at the journey of the “Vietnam ship” after nearly half a century of national unification, it is truly a long journey filled with thorns and challenges; filled with “death curves” that if the helmsman is not steady, the consequences cannot be predicted.

After 10 years of groping to find a way out of the "bomb craters" left by the war, we have realized and paid for mistakes in economic development. However, thanks to that, we have gained more lessons to foster our determination to innovate. The 6th Party Congress has left a deep and valuable mark on the success or failure of a ruling party. For the people's lives, for the future of the country, a Party that once stood at the pinnacle of the art of leading the cause of national liberation and unification has courageously looked straight at the truth, admitted its mistakes and corrected them to welcome a new wind. That is a vital step for the country's political system and economy.

The price of peace, independence, freedom, therefore, is difficult to compare!

The achievements of the renovation cause have affirmed the role of the Party in leading the country's economic development. Difficulties in the process of transforming thinking about the market economy have been gradually overcome; the multi-sector economy, private economy, foreign investment... have gradually affirmed their positivity and adhered to the investment environment when Vietnam opened up and integrated. With its potential, capacity, experience and existing consensus and solidarity, Vietnam has confidently overcome many storms, gradually keeping up with the times, bringing the country to rapid and sustainable development, with a worthy position in the world as it is today.

The aspiration to build a rich and prosperous country is as strong as the determination to gain independence and unify the country!

Vietnam is considered by many international organizations as a dynamic investment destination thanks to its stable politics, legal framework, and attractive tax regime. Despite being significantly affected by the Covid-19 pandemic and facing many difficulties and challenges in the world economy, the Vietnamese economic ship has still steadfastly "survived the waves" and achieved remarkable achievements, becoming a bright spot in the region and the world.

In 2023, GDP growth is expected to be more than 5.05%, although it has not yet reached the target of 6-6.5% as expected, it is still high compared to many countries. Inflation has been successfully controlled, CPI increased by an average of 3.25%/year, exceeding the target set by the National Assembly. Agriculture continues to be a solid "pillar" of the economy, contributing to ensuring food security, stabilizing people's lives, and increasing exports with a total turnover of over 53 billion USD. Industry has recovered positively. Trade and services continue to grow well. Tourism has recovered quickly, with 12.6 million international visitors to Vietnam, 3.4 times higher than in 2022, far exceeding the target of 8 million set at the beginning of the year. For the fourth time, we have been honored as the world's leading heritage destination... Foreign direct investment (FDI) grew impressively with more than 23 billion USD, up 3.5% compared to 2022 and the highest ever.

The highlight in 2023 is that the economic diplomacy activities of the Party and State have been enhanced. Vietnam has upgraded its Comprehensive Strategic Partnership with Japan and the United States, expected to bring a new wave of quality investment to Vietnam in the coming time.

These positive results are the basis for us to expect a spectacular economic breakthrough in 2024, when the management policy has a clearer impact on the economy; the 3 driving forces: investment, consumption and export continue to be strongly promoted; the shortcomings and obstacles of enterprises, the real estate market, corporate bonds... are focused on by the Government to be resolved and transformed more positively in 2023; the growth poles in the Northern Delta - Midlands (Hanoi - Vinh Phuc - Bac Ninh - Quang Ninh), North Central (Thanh Hoa - Nghe An - Ha Tinh), South Central, Ho Chi Minh City and Southeast, Central Highlands are gradually taking shape, continuing to lead the economy to sustainable development. These signals allow the National Assembly to set a GDP growth target of 6 - 6.5% in 2024. At the same time, it shows the high growth trend of the economy in the coming years.

Rejoicing in the joy of the 49th anniversary of national reunification, we are even more proud and hopeful about the country's future on the path of innovation.
