MMA fighter Ilia Topuria wins big by betting on Carlos Alcaraz to beat Novak Djokovic in the Wimbledon final.
Topuria bet $50,000 on Alcaraz to win. After the final on July 16, the Spanish-Georgian MMA fighter earned $237,500, nearly five times his initial bet.
"Mr. Carlitos, congratulations," Topuria wrote to Alcaraz on social media after the match. "I never doubted your victory. Many people advised me to withdraw, but I still bet with a lot of faith. I did not hesitate at any time. Congratulations again and again, you deserve it."

In the final that lasted nearly five hours, Alcaraz came back to beat Djokovic 3-2. After losing the first set 1-6, the 20-year-old Spaniard fought back with a score of 7-6 (8-6) and 6-1 in the next two sets. He lost the fourth set 3-6, but had the nerve to win 6-4 in the deciding set.
Before the final, experts rated Djokovic higher than Alcaraz. Djokovic had won all four previous Wimbledons. The Serbian also holds a record of 23 Grand Slam men's singles titles and seven Wimbledons. Meanwhile, Alcaraz has only won one Grand Slam, the 2022 US Open.

With the victory in the Wimbledon final, Alcaraz avenged his 3-6, 7-5, 1-6, 1-6 defeat to Djokovic in the 2023 French Open semi-finals. The Spaniard also consolidated his world number one position, which he has held since September 2022. Meanwhile, Djokovic continued to rank second.
After the final, in addition to Topuria, many stars also sent congratulations to Alcaraz, including fellow tennis player Rafael Nadal and F1 driver Fernando Alonso. Colombian singer Sebastian Yatra even stopped his performance to congratulate the 20-year-old tennis player.
