Taking place from September 23 to October 8, 2023 in Hangzhou City (China), the 19th Asian Games - ASIAD 19 will be the first to include eSports in the official medal competition. Previously, eSports appeared as a demonstration sport at ASIAD 18 in Jakarta (Indonesia) in 2018. Of the total 7 eSports sports announced at this ASIAD, the Vietnamese sports delegation participated in 6 sports, including 2 games currently published by VNGGames in Vietnam: PUBG Mobile and League of Legends. These are all games with a large audience in Vietnam and around the world.

In order to help the Vietnamese eSports team learn and practice to have a suitable strategy before the official competition, many important activities have been jointly implemented by the Vietnam eSports and Entertainment Association (VIRESA) and VNG. The two sides closely coordinate in selecting and evaluating athletes' abilities through training plans and friendly competitions.
Notably, the Vietnamese eSports team had a friendly match with the Korean team in League of Legends on September 11. At the same time, VNG also provided professional advice, strategy and financial support to Vietnamese athletes throughout the competition.
"The success of eSports in Vietnam in recent years, especially the two recent SEA Games, has had the great contribution, coordination and support of publishers like VNG. Publishers in Vietnam all have good capacity and make practical contributions to the overall development of eSports in Vietnam. ASIAD 19 will be an opportunity for Vietnamese eSports in general and publishers like VNG in particular to observe, learn, and accumulate more experience, thereby building important goals in a sustainable and long-term development strategy, affirming their position in the regional arena," said Mr. Do Viet Hung, General Secretary of VIRESA.
After the successes at the 31st and 32nd SEA Games, this ASIAD is considered a great opportunity for Vietnamese eSports teams to prove their abilities, as well as learn from eSports powerhouses such as China and Korea.
"VNG always wants to accompany and support athletes and teams participating in competitions with the best conditions so that they can achieve high results, win medals and bring glory to the Fatherland. VNG will continue to invest in tournament systems, support national teams and e-sports clubs to professionalize the team of athletes and coaches, thereby improving competition results in regional, continental and world arenas," said Mr. La Xuan Thang, Director of Online Game Publishing of VNG.
