Vingroup Innovation Foundation (VinIF) will fund an additional 100 billion VND for the Vietnamese science and technology community to carry out science, technology, and history-related cultural projects in 2024.
The above content was announced by VinIF representative this afternoon (December 20). Thus, the total amount of non-profit funding VinIF has provided to the Vietnamese scientific community over the past 6 years has reached more than 900 billion VND.
Many high-tech projects were funded this time, such as: The project to develop an autonomous underwater device AUV using SONAR technology for underground monitoring and measuring marine environmental parameters of Hanoi University of Science and Technology; The project to design an AI chip based on the Spiking Neural Network structure and a multi-core RISC-V processor combined with a network on a chip of Ho Chi Minh City University of Science...
VinIF has supported more than 3,500 scientists and funded 124 projects.
In addition, the Fund also sponsors 200 master's and doctoral scholarships, 60 post-doctoral scholarships, 38 conferences, seminars, and public lectures.
Thus, after 6 years of accompanying the Vietnamese scientific community, VinIF has supported more than 3,500 scientists, funded 124 projects, and created more than 80 domestic and international inventions. Thanks to that, 11 projects have commercialized technology products, and 17 projects have established startups with million-dollar revenue.
Regarding training, by the end of 2024, VinIF has sponsored 748 master's scholarships, 787 doctoral scholarships and 240 post-doctoral scholarships. These scientists have created 1,500 works published in prestigious international journals and conferences.
Among the scientists receiving funding from VinIF, many outstanding faces have been recognized at the national and international levels. Among the 30 candidates winning the Golden Globe Science and Technology Award in the past three years, 10 candidates received funding from VinIF.
Dozens of other excellent candidates were also honored as typical young Vietnamese faces, named in the Forbes under 20 list, and Top influential scientists in the world.
VinIF signed a contract to sponsor science and technology projects in 2024.
According to Professor Vu Ha Van, Scientific Director of VinIF, over the past 5 years, the Fund's funding programs have aimed to build a generation of young scientists who are capable, creative, upright, socially responsible and passionate about research.
To limit the brain drain, the Foundation has opened a Postdoctoral Scholarship Program so that professional Vietnamese scientists at home and abroad can focus on high-quality work in leading academies, universities, and research institutes nationwide.
To focus resources on R&D, VinIF sponsors science and technology projects, bringing together excellent experts and topics, approaching regional and world levels.
To connect, learn, and quickly absorb advances in science and technology in the world, in addition to sponsored projects with the contribution of international scientists and research facilities, VinIF also promotes sponsorship of international scientific conferences and public lectures by many leading professors.
VinIF also launched a program to preserve historical and cultural values in 2021 to preserve Vietnamese cultural values and support culturalists to carry out their cherished projects.

Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Bui The Duy emphasized that VinIF's funding has created very positive scientific and technological results, many of which are excellent, contributing to the country's common efforts in promoting the development of science and technology.
Deputy Minister Duy believes that VinIF will be a bright spot and a driving force for other corporations and businesses to join hands in forming funding funds for the country's scientific and technological research activities.
