According to Dr. Nguyen Huy Hoang from the Vietnam-Russia Hyperbaric Oxygen Center ( Ministry of Defense ), the first thing to do when discovering you've accidentally ingested counterfeit medication is to stop using it immediately. Whether you've only taken one dose or multiple times, continuing to take it could worsen your health condition.
Next, you need to contact your doctor or go to the nearest medical facility for examination and advice as soon as possible. Patients should provide complete information about the type of medication used, dosage, when they started taking it, and any unusual symptoms experienced. This information will help the doctor assess the extent of the impact and provide appropriate treatment.

While waiting for an examination, users should closely monitor symptoms such as headache, nausea, dizziness, digestive disorders, allergies, rash, shortness of breath, etc. Recording specific events will aid in the diagnostic and treatment process.
Doctor Hoang advises that if you still have the packaging or blister pack of used medication, you should absolutely not throw it away. This is important evidence that helps authorities trace the product's origin, determine its ingredients, and compare it with other drugs that are currently under warning on the market.
In addition to individual handling, citizens are encouraged to report incidents to authorities such as the local Department of Health, the Drug Administration of Vietnam ( Ministry of Health ), or the police. Timely reporting can help detect counterfeit drug production and distribution networks early and prevent the risk of their spread in the community.
Counterfeit drugs pose a threat not only to individuals but also to society as a whole. Consumer vigilance, proactiveness, and cooperation are among the first lines of defense in protecting public health.
