After 56 days and nights of "digging mountains, sleeping in tunnels, enduring rain, eating rice balls", on May 7, 1954, the Dien Bien Phu Campaign was completely victorious, marking a brilliant milestone in the history of the nation and the times, becoming a symbol of Vietnamese heroism and strength. 70 years have passed, but the echoes, significance and historical lessons of the "famous in five continents, shaking the earth" Victory still resonate forever, encouraging and giving strength to the entire Party, the entire people and the entire army of the country in general, and Ninh Binh province in particular, to strive to build a prosperous homeland and country, and happy people.

Contribute to the "earth-shaking" victory

70 years ago, with the spirit of "All for the front", "All for the front, all for victory", together with the people and soldiers nationwide, the army and people of Ninh Binh devoted all resources and efforts to contribute to the Dien Bien Phu campaign. Thousands of laborers were mobilized and organized to transport food, medicine and other essential items to serve the battlefield. The movement of joining the army and enlisting took place vigorously in the area, many petitions were written in blood. The ardent patriotism and deep hatred for the enemy urged the Dien Bien soldiers, the youth volunteers (TNXP), and the frontline laborers from the ancient capital of Hoa Lu to overcome countless difficulties, day and night "cutting through forests and mountains" to, together with the people and soldiers nationwide, create many miracles, contributing to the Dien Bien Phu Victory, to the independence and freedom of the Fatherland.

After 56 days and nights of resilient, brave and creative fighting by our army and people, the entire "invincible" Dien Bien Phu stronghold was completely wiped out. The Dien Bien Phu victory is an immortal heroic epic of the Vietnamese people, a brilliant historical milestone, "famous in five continents, shaking the earth". In that common achievement, Ninh Binh is proud to have made an important contribution. According to statistics, the whole province has 60 martyrs, 163 soldiers and 4,246 frontline laborers directly participating in the Dien Bien Phu campaign. Those who directly participated in the Dien Bien Phu campaign are now of a rare age, but are still shining examples for their descendants to follow.

The historic victory of Dien Bien Phu is an immortal heroic epic, originating from the glorious historical tradition of our nation, from the wise leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam and the great President Ho Chi Minh, from the strength of the great national unity and the determination to fight for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland. After 7 decades, the everlasting values of the victory have always been a source of spiritual strength, encouragement and great motivation for the Party Committee, army and people of Ninh Binh province to continue to take advantage of opportunities and advantages, overcome challenges and create new miracles.

From a poor province after 32 years of re-establishment (1992-2024), Ninh Binh has risen strongly with a continuously high growth rate, the proportion of industry-construction and services accounting for 90% of GRDP. In 2022, the average income per capita ranked 12th out of 63 provinces and cities nationwide; indicators of digital transformation, innovation, administrative reform... were all ranked in the top 15 localities. Up to now, all districts and cities have met the standards and completed the task of building new rural areas, Ninh Binh province strives to become a new rural province by early 2025. A number of key industries have been formed, the pillars of which are automobile manufacturing and assembly; developing multi-value ecological agriculture. Tourism and services have developed strongly, Ninh Binh is always in the top 15 destinations in the world, the top 10 provinces with the highest number of visitors in the country. To celebrate the 70th anniversary of Dien Bien Phu Victory, together with the whole country, all levels, sectors and localities in the province have been implementing a series of gratitude activities with many practical and meaningful activities such as: visiting and expressing gratitude to Dien Bien soldiers, Youth Volunteers, and frontline workers who directly participated in the Dien Bien Phu campaign; exchanging and continuing the traditional fire; organizing marching groups to red addresses; organizing a festival for young Dien Bien soldiers; cultural and artistic programs with the theme "Echoes of Dien Bien"; offering incense to commemorate heroic martyrs; launching a peak emulation campaign "Following the footsteps of Dien Bien soldiers - Advancing to win 3 first prizes"...

In particular, responding to the call of the Presidium of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front to support the program "Millions of loving hearts - Thousand happy homes", in 2023, the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province and the Provincial Fund Mobilization Committee mobilized support for the construction of Great Unity houses for poor households in Dien Bien province. With gratitude and the desire to contribute a small part of their efforts to take care of the lives of ethnic minorities in Dien Bien province to become better and better, many agencies, organizations, units and people of Ninh Binh have actively participated in supporting the Fund with the highest responsibility and ability. After just over 2 months of launching, the whole province has mobilized 3 billion VND to support the construction of 60 houses for poor households, exceeding the plan set by the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front. The joint efforts and support of the Party Committee, government and people of Ninh Binh have contributed to helping the ethnic people of Dien Bien province improve their material and spiritual lives, and stay connected to the borderland of the Fatherland.

Along with gratitude activities, the province always pays attention to educating about historical traditions, the significance and lessons of the Dien Bien Phu Victory, helping the young generation deeply understand and be proud of one of the most heroic victory songs of our nation in the 20th century.

That tradition has aroused and instilled in us young people more pride and deep gratitude for the great contributions and sacrifices of our ancestors to protect national independence, along with the will, aspiration, and efforts to conquer new heights. Therefore, throughout the past years of study, I have constantly strived to achieve high academic achievements. At the national excellent student selection exam for the 2023-2024 school year, I won second prize in Literature. "Following the example of previous generations and the Dien Bien soldiers, I will strive to achieve even greater achievements in the coming time, contributing my small efforts to realize the country's aspirations, bringing the country to develop "on par with the world powers" as Uncle Ho always wished."

Promoting the spirit of Dien Bien Phu Victory, every Ninh Binh citizen is determined to successfully implement the Resolution of the 22nd Provincial Party Congress, term 2020-2025; strive to build and develop Ninh Binh province by 2030 to basically meet the criteria and by 2035 to become a centrally-run city with the characteristics of a Millennium Heritage City and a creative city.
