Mr. Duc at that time thought that Coach Troussier was conservative, did not inherit the values left by his predecessor Park Hang-seo and was not suitable for Vietnamese football. It was quite surprising when Mr. Duc's interview related to this issue caused a stir in a newspaper but then disappeared.
Since then, Mr. Duc has become quiet, almost not speaking about issues related to Vietnamese football and HAGL Club itself. The move took place in the context of HAGL facing difficulties for many years, the first generation of HAGL Academy such as Cong Phuong, Luong Xuan Truong, Tuan Anh, Van Toan... gradually saying goodbye to the mountain town team.
Mr. Duc gradually becomes more secretive about Vietnamese football.
The most notable recent development is that HAGL is tied to a bank owned by Mr. Nguyen Duc Thuy, a familiar face in Vietnamese football. When Mr. Thuy was in charge of Xuan Thanh Saigon, he was upset about the issue of a boss being involved in more than one team in the V-League, tied to Mr. Hien. Mr. Thuy has now returned and his image is associated with many football activities, considered a "contemporary" of Vietnamese football today, the main highlight being the investment deal for HAGL.
The mountain town football team brought in colorful figures of Vietnamese football, notably coach Vu Tien Thanh, who used to work for the Dong A Bank-Pomina Steel team.
The fact that Mr. Duc has become more secretive has inevitably made Vietnamese football fans miss him, partly because Mr. Duc is usually enthusiastic and attracts fans with his hot statements, not afraid to attack many people. HAGL is currently entering a new phase, expected to be more prosperous thanks to changes behind the scenes.
On the V-League rankings, the mountain town team is currently in 6th place with 16 points after 11 matches. Recently, HAGL made an impression when defeating Hanoi FC right at Hang Day Stadium. Whatever the reason, Mr. Duc is still an attractive personality, a part of Vietnamese football history and makes the V-League more attractive.
Fans are still expecting the return of HAGL to make the National Championship more competitive, exciting, and attract fans.
