First meeting of the Government Negotiation Delegation on trade issues with the United States

On the afternoon of April 14, 2025, at the headquarters of the Ministry of Industry and Trade , Minister of Industry and Trade, Head of the Government Negotiation Delegation Nguyen Hong Dien chaired the first meeting of the Government Negotiation Delegation on trade issues with the United States.

On April 12, 2025, the Prime Minister issued Decision No. 753/QD-TTg establishing the Government Negotiation Team on trade issues with the United States. Immediately afterwards, Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son signed Decision No. 754/QD-TTg approving the members of the Working Group and promulgating the Working Regulations of the Government Negotiation Team.

Thoroughly grasping the direction of the Senior Leaders, the first meeting of the Negotiation Delegation discussed the objectives and plans for implementing the tasks of the Negotiation Delegation; assigning tasks to Ministries, members of the Negotiation Delegation and the Support Team; information security regulations and implementation plans in the coming days.

For Vietnam, negotiating a trade agreement with the United States aims to achieve a stable, sustainable and mutually beneficial bilateral trade agreement, in the spirit of ensuring maximum national and ethnic interests and harmonious benefits and shared risks.

Minister of Industry and Trade, Head of the Government Negotiation Delegation Nguyen Hong Dien chaired the first meeting of the Government Negotiation Delegation on trade issues with the United States on the afternoon of April 14.

On April 14, 2025, the Minister of Industry and Trade, Head of the Negotiation Delegation, also sent an official Note to the Chief Trade Representative (USTR) and the Secretary of the Treasury to inform about Vietnam's negotiation focal point and technical level; at the same time, requesting the United States to confirm information about the US negotiation team./.
