(Fatherland) - On the evening of November 23, at Ho Chi Minh Square, Vinh City, Nghe An Province, a ceremony was held to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Nghe Tinh Vi and Giam folk songs being recognized by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity (November 27, 2014 - November 27, 2024).
Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Committee of Nghe An province Nguyen Duc Trung; Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Ta Quang Dong; representatives of Ha Tinh province's leaders and a large number of artists, people and tourists from all over the country attended the ceremony.

10 years since being recognized by UNESCO, Vi and Giam has been proving its vitality and strong influence regardless of space and time, with positive results in the work of teaching heritage to the community, creating conditions to encourage and support artisans to practice and pass on heritage; expanding the network of activities of clubs, bringing Vi and Giam beyond the space of Nghe An cultural region to the whole country and beyond national borders, spreading to the world.
Vice Chairman of Nghe An Provincial People's Committee Bui Dinh Long affirmed: To achieve these successes, there is the participation, promotion of roles and responsibilities, demonstrating the aspirations and commitments of the authorities and people of Nghe An and Ha Tinh provinces in protecting and promoting the value of the Vi and Giam Folk Cultural Heritage according to the 2003 UNESCO Convention.

Besides the successes, there are still goals that the two provinces have not achieved in the work of preserving and promoting the value of heritage. That is, the ancient folk melodies have been partly lost; the number of folk artists who hold and practice ancient melodies is decreasing due to old age, besides, the young generation is not enthusiastic about this type of heritage, so the inheritance is not much. The environment and performance space have changed, there are no longer conditions to practice ancient melodies...
The Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Nghe An province hopes that in order for Vi and Giam folk songs to be worthy of the status of Representative Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, the authorities and people of Nghe An and Ha Tinh provinces will continue to implement the Action Program to protect and promote the value of Vi and Giam folk songs, creating conditions for artisans and the community to preserve, transmit and spread love for the heritage; increase investment in resources, gradually build Vi and Giam folk songs into a typical tourism product of Nghe An, invest in building a brand for Vi and Giam and a local tourism brand associated with Vi and Giam.
Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Ta Quang Dong acknowledged and highly appreciated the efforts and dedication of the authorities and people of Nghe An and Ha Tinh provinces and congratulated the results the two localities have achieved in recent times.

In the future, in order for Nghe Tinh Vi and Giam folk songs to truly spread and last, the Deputy Minister requested the authorities of Nghe An and Ha Tinh provinces to proactively and actively coordinate with central departments, ministries, branches, People's Committees at all levels, relevant agencies, communities that are the subjects of Nghe Tinh Vi and Giam folk songs heritage and people nationwide, with all the sense of responsibility, enthusiasm, and love for the traditional cultural heritage of the nation to effectively implement the National Action Program to protect and promote the value of this intangible cultural heritage.
Deputy Minister Ta Quang Dong suggested that the two provinces need to increase investment in resources for the conservation and promotion of cultural heritage values, including the Vi and Giam folk song heritage.
Effectively promulgate and implement policies on preserving and promoting the value of Nghe Tinh Vi and Giam folk songs, with priority given to supporting communities, clubs and artisans in organizing the teaching and promotion of Vi and Giam folk songs; restoring and transmitting traditional melodies and performance forms; expanding new forms and living environments, consistent with the goal of preserving and promoting the value of Vi and Giam folk songs in contemporary life.
Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Ta Quang Dong presented Certificates of Merit from the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to collectives and individuals.
The Deputy Minister also suggested that the two provinces should increase the introduction and promotion of Vi and Giam folk songs domestically and internationally through foreign affairs programs, cultural exchange activities, and international cooperation so that Vi and Giam can spread more deeply and widely to friends around the world.
Along with that, build Vi and Giam folk songs into a typical tourism product of Nghe An; through tours to the heritage area so that tourists can know more about Vi and Giam.
On the side of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, we will accompany and coordinate with the departments, ministries, branches and central agencies to have synchronous and positive solutions, together with the authorities and local communities of Nghe An and Ha Tinh provinces to effectively implement the National Action Program to preserve and promote the value of the Vi and Giam folk song heritage, worthy of being a representative intangible cultural heritage of humanity.

At the ceremony, 10 collectives and individuals received Certificates of Merit from the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism; 20 collectives and individuals received Certificates of Merit from the Chairman of the People's Committee of Nghe An province for their outstanding contributions to the work of preserving and promoting the value of Vi and Giam folk song heritage in the period 2014-2024.
At the Ceremony, delegates and people enjoyed the special art program "Vi Giam, the shining soul of the countryside" consisting of 3 chapters: Soul of the countryside; Vi, Giam nurtures talents; Gathering and shining performed by artists and artisans./.
