The Hue International Arts Festival 2024 will take place from June 7 to 12 with the theme “Cultural Heritage with Integration and Development”. The Thua Thien Hue provincial government hopes that this event will continue to make Hue a place to meet and connect regions and countries through traditional culture and contemporary art.
“Tourists will have experiences with attractive cultural and artistic colors, immersing themselves in the space of an ancient but equally dynamic urban area” - according to the representative of Thua Thien Hue Provincial People's Committee shared with the press.
A series of festival activities throughout 2024 are calculated by Hue at the points of the year, in order to exploit the strengths of scenic spots, types of festivals, and spiritual tourism.
As for Hue Festival Week 2024, the main activities will take place in the royal palace space, using the relic sites as performance and lighting spaces, promising to create a sparkling, eye-catching art party, imbued with the cultural identity of the ancient capital of Hue. The festival organizing committee hopes that with this approach, the public will feel the festival atmosphere as soon as they set foot in the Hue Imperial City. Hue Festival Week is starting to "heat up" the summer tourist season in Hue.
During the 6 days of the Festival, Hue City will organize 8 series of events. From the street festival “Cultural Colors” with music and dance performances, street variety shows, processions and folk performances, street festivals with cultural characteristics of regions and some countries around the world.
On the evenings of June 8-11, performances by 12 troupes and art groups from 7 countries such as France, Spain, Japan, Canada, Korea, and China will take place in public spaces of Hue.
The music program “Dialogue Trinh Cong Son - Love Found” held on June 9 at Dien Kien Trung stage with the participation of singers Cam Van, Tran Manh Tuan, Quang Dung, Ha Tran, Duc Tuan, Ngoc Khue, Viet Thu, An Tran, Nguyen Vinh Ha Phuong is considered the highlight of this Festival.
In addition, a number of festivals will also be held on this occasion such as the light festival, beer festival, vegetarian food festival, flower lantern festival, and "Tam Giang water wave" festival. Hue Festival Week 2024 will conclude with an art program on June 12.
In particular, for the first time, the opening ceremony of Hue Festival and the music and art program were held at Kien Trung Palace - a project that has just completed a 5-year renovation and been put into operation since February this year. This palace was once the workplace of King Bao Dai, one of the 5 important projects on the sacred axis under the Nguyen Dynasty. The total cost of restoring this relic is up to 124 million USD.
