Hanoi's match between Viettel and Ha Tinh, 4-0, had to be stopped for five minutes so that the VAR team, in its first application in the V-League, could check the second goal of home midfielder Nguyen Hoang Duc.
In the 69th minute, Mohamed Essameldin delicately flicked the ball into the penalty area for Hoang Duc to volley down to raise the score to 2-0 for Viettel. While the home team players were celebrating, referee Ngo Duy Lan signaled for the match to be temporarily stopped so that the VAR (Video Assistant Referee) team could check for offside.
After more than five minutes, VAR gave a clear result and referee Ngo Duy Lan recognized the goal, allowing the match to continue.

The match at Hang Day Stadium in the third round of phase II was the first time VAR was applied in the history of the Vietnam National Championship. The Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) and Vietnam Professional Football Joint Stock Company (VPF) decided to choose this match to apply, based on FIFA's recommendation to choose a less stressful match to apply.
A similar situation occurred in the 7th minute of injury time when Janclesio collided with Tran Danh Trung in the penalty area. VAR spent five minutes checking but could not make a decision, asking referee Ngo Duy Lan to check directly. After watching the video, Mr. Duy Lan awarded Viettel a penalty. On the 11m mark, Duc Chien scored the final goal to make it 4-0 in the 105th minute.

It was not until the 106th minute that the final whistle sounded, ending one of the longest matches in V-League history. Referee Ngo Duy Lan also paused the match four more times to seek advice from VAR, but there was no penalty.
In addition to the two goals mentioned above, Viettel opened the score in the 12th minute thanks to Essameldin. Hoang Duc also completed his double in the first extra minute of the second half with a close-range shot into an empty net.
The victory helped Viettel gain 28 points to move up to third place on the table, equal to Hanoi Police but behind due to a lower goal difference and having played one more match. Ha Tinh with 20 points is sixth.
