Hai Phong 1-1 HAGL.
"VAR needs more camera angles to provide better images, thereby saving referees time checking, " coach Chu Dinh Nghiem shared after the opening match of V-League 2023/2024.
Hai Phong FC hosted HAGL at home. In this match, the port city team opened the score in the 81st minute thanks to Lucao's goal from the 11-meter mark. However, referee Nguyen Dinh Thai took a long time to review the situation because there was only one camera angle recording this play.
The match had 10 minutes of extra time because of the above situation. During this time, HAGL Club took advantage to equalize. The scorer was Jairo Filho.

Coach Chu Dinh Nghiem was satisfied with this result but had some regrets. He commented: " I only regret that the playing style was a bit tense. When HAGL put pressure on us, we exposed weaknesses because there was no one in charge on the field. Hai Huy was the one who controlled the rhythm. Without him, the club's strength would be greatly affected ."
Meanwhile, coach Kiatisak said: " VAR is good for V-League and Vietnamese football, creating fair matches. This is the first match of the season, and away from home, so it is very difficult. VAR checks the situation and we are awarded a penalty. Sometimes we benefit from VAR, sometimes we are at a disadvantage, but today we got a point against Hai Phong, a very strong team and beat us twice last season ."
This season, except for the foreign player position, HAGL has not had many changes in its domestic force. Coach Kiatisak said that HAGL's force has recently been built on a foundation of young players. Through each match, they will improve and mature. Mr. Duc brought in 2 foreign players this season, but he believes in his squad and is ready to compete for the championship with Hanoi FC or Viettel.
Coach Kiatisak also said that his team uses two foreign central defenders to strengthen defense before focusing on the attack front.
He is also looking forward to the next round against the Hanoi Police Club at Pleiku Stadium and believes that the team from the mountain town will have a good performance. This match will take place on October 28.
