According to ABC , Suborno Isaac Bari (12 years old) in Hempstead town (Nassau county, New York state, USA) will graduate from high school on July 3.
Suborno became the youngest student ever to graduate from high school in Nassau County history, according to the Malverne School District office.
"Absolutely amazing experience"
Appearing on ABC 's "Good Morning America," Suborno shared that she is very happy to have just graduated from high school and is preparing to go to college next September.
Speaking about her academic journey, Suborno called it an absolutely amazing experience. "I met so many amazing people, learned so much about math, science, and other subjects. I think I'm ready to move on and pursue higher education," Suborno said.
With outstanding learning ability, the 12-year-old boy was given special privileges, not having to study grades 5, 6, 7, 9 and 11. The boy has completed grades 4, 8, 10 and is studying grade 12.
Finishing high school early and completing the American High School Diploma (AP) program, Suborno took the aptitude tests for university admission, including: SAT score of 1,200 out of a maximum of 1,600 and 34/36 points for ACT.
The boy always thirsted for knowledge
With 25 years of experience working in the education field, Ms. Rebecca Gottesman, Director of General Education Programs of Malverne School District, calls Suborno a “child prodigy.”
“This is a kid with a thirst for knowledge and a thirst for knowledge, unlike any student I have ever met. He is truly a genius,” Ms. Gottesman said.
According to Ms. Gottesman, the school and family worked together to allow Suborno to attend higher education classes while still integrating with his peers in elementary school. "We signed an agreement that allowed him to attend high school in the morning and then take the bus to elementary school in the afternoon," Ms. Gottesman said.
Despite Suborno’s advanced studies, his teachers and older classmates welcomed him and gave him every opportunity to pursue his interests. “The seniors treated me like any other high school student,” Suborno said.
The boy hopes to graduate from university at the age of 14, then continue studying to get a doctorate and become a university lecturer.
This September, Suborno will become a freshman at New York University, receiving a scholarship to earn a bachelor's degree in mathematics and physics.
"Many young people choose a career at university just because their parents guide them, but they don't really love it. Therefore, I hope my own story will help change that so that people can better understand the beauty of mathematics and basic sciences in general," Suborno shared.
Suborno’s parents are both teachers. Specifically, his father teaches physics at Brooklyn Technical High School (New York City) and his mother is an elementary school teacher. His parents noticed that their youngest son Suborno was especially intelligent in 2014 when they taught him basic math. In addition to his outstanding academic ability, the family said that Suborno has a talent for drawing, debating, and playing the piano.
