Literature and Arts of Tien Giang Province - 50 Years in Review

Right after the Liberation of the South and the reunification of the country, in the context of many difficulties in terms of facilities and staff, the provincial arts movement had some initial remarkable steps. On August 19, 1977, the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee issued Decision 141 on the establishment of the Provincial Arts Association, the predecessor of the current Provincial Arts Association. This was an important milestone, laying the foundation for the systematic and organized development of the province's arts and literature.

Since its establishment, the Provincial Literature and Arts Association has held 8 Congresses. Through many stages of development, the Provincial Literature and Arts Association has gradually matured and expanded, in line with the increasingly high development requirements of cultural life.

One of the outstanding and strategic achievements in the development of the province's arts and culture over the past 50 years is the building of a large team of artists, many generations of continuous succession and deep attachment to their homeland.

Since the first Congress in 1979, the Association had only a few dozen artists and a few Central members. Now it has more than 400 members in 7 fields: Literature, Fine Arts, Photography, Music, Theater, Dance and Folk Arts, with 71 Central members, the quality of members is constantly improving. This is not only a creative resource but also a spiritual force that contributes to preserving identity, inspiring and encouraging the sustainable development of local cultural life.

Over the past half century, the province’s artists have created a rich treasure trove of literary and artistic works, vividly reflecting all aspects of life in the Mekong Delta. From Literature, Fine Arts, Photography, Music, Theater to Folk Arts, each field has recorded clear professional marks, contributing to improving the spiritual life of the people, affirming the position of the province’s literature and art in the general flow of national culture.

The creative movement is always maintained and strongly developed in many forms. Regularly organizing creative field trips in and out of the province for artists, organizing competitions, exhibitions, performances, investing in creative works, opening creative camps...

Every year, the artists create from 500 to 700 works in the fields of literature and art with ideological and artistic values, serving the political tasks of the locality and the public's need to enjoy culture and art. Book publishing is always invested in. Painting and photography exhibitions are regularly held to serve major annual political events; participating in regional, national and international exhibitions...

The artistic content of the province's literary and artistic works is closely linked to the life of people in the river region, bearing the deep, emotional and humane imprint of Southern culture. The works of art are not simply spiritual products but also "vivid memories" of the land and people of Tien Giang, contributing to the formation of a unique "artistic identity", creating a unique voice in the cultural and artistic space of the Mekong Delta and the whole country.

Looking back at the province's cultural and artistic activities over the past 50 years with many innovations, diversity and constant development, approaching progressive trends in the region as well as the whole country. The provincial artists have contributed a large number of works to the cultural and artistic life. The works are created from the values ​​of truth, goodness and beauty of humanity, deeply imbued with national traditions and humanistic spirit, both having an orienting effect and meeting and satisfying the increasingly high and diverse cultural and spiritual needs of the people.

All cultural and artistic activities closely follow the viewpoints, guidelines and policies of the Party and State, especially closely follow the political tasks assigned by the Provincial Party Committee and Provincial People's Committee every year; promptly promote, propagate and organize activities to serve the important anniversaries of the country and the province, creating positive spillovers towards innovation and quality improvement.

At the same time, through art programs, performances, and literary compositions, many good works have been created, moving people's hearts over the years, contributing to the cause of building, protecting, and developing the country.

Creative movements, competitions, festivals and competitions are taking place more and more with the investment of the State and socialized resources. More specifically, it has discovered, nurtured and created generations of artists who are talented, passionate and responsible for life.

Every year, the members create hundreds of works in the fields of literature and art with ideological and artistic value, serving the political tasks of the locality and meeting the public's need to enjoy literature and art, many of which are in the fields of Fine Arts, Photography, Music... winning high prizes in competitions in the province, region, country and international...

Through the lens of artists, the achievements in the economic and social fields of the province in the fields of literature and art become more diverse and rich, contributing to motivating all levels and sectors to have more motivation to strive to bring Tien Giang to rise and raise its position in the region.

The Provincial Party Committee has also directed the establishment of the Literature and Arts Theory and Criticism Board (under the Provincial Literature and Arts Association); regularly organize seminars and discussions to deeply analyze and criticize wrong viewpoints in literature and arts. Thereby contributing to improving the effectiveness and efficiency of the leadership of the Party Committee and state management on the development of literature and arts theory, concretizing and effectively organizing the implementation of the Party and State's guidelines and policies on literature and arts.

Prevent and repel the degradation of political ideology, morality, lifestyle, manifestations of "self-evolution" and "self-transformation" within the organization; fight against "peaceful evolution" in the ideological and cultural fields. Along with that, the Provincial Literature and Arts Association issued a Regulation on ethical standards for the Association's officials, members, and provincial artists; regularly review and supplement the Regulation to suit the actual situation...

Along with professional art activities, the province's mass art movement has also developed strongly at the commune level, agencies, schools, and the Armed Forces. In general, the quality of mass art movements has been improved in terms of content, form of expression, and increasingly rich and diverse programs, attracting a large number of people's attention and enjoyment, contributing to honoring the noble values ​​of poetry, education, raising awareness, especially among the young generation, while preserving and promoting the traditional cultural identity of the nation. Thereby, contributing to improving the spiritual life of the people, strengthening propaganda and information work to orient aesthetic and artistic tastes, etc.

CONTINUING TO DEVELOP IN THE NEW PHASE

With the forecast that in the coming years, culture and arts will face great opportunities and new challenges. To continue developing culture and arts in the new period, Tien Giang will deploy, thoroughly grasp and concretize the Party's viewpoints and guidelines on culture and culture and arts in accordance with local conditions and practices.

Strengthening the promotion of comprehensive strength, maintaining political orientation, affirming the Party's leadership and the State's management role in culture and arts in the new period, contributing to improving the spiritual life of the people. Actively fighting against signs of degradation in political ideology, ethics, lifestyle, "self-evolution", "self-transformation" in the fields of ideology and culture.

Focus on planning, training, fostering, and arranging leaders, managers, and consultants in the field of culture and arts with sufficient capacity, qualifications, and qualities to undertake the work. Continue to pay attention to implementing investment mechanisms and policies for cultural and artistic creation activities, especially mobilizing socialization and diversifying investment capital sources, ensuring synchronization in attracting and encouraging investment resources for the cultural and artistic fields, both promoting the creativity of artists and achieving economic and social efficiency.

Promote the role and functions of the Provincial Literature and Arts Association and specialized branches to truly be a center of solidarity, gathering artists and intellectuals, creating many works of high ideological and artistic value.

Continue to improve the quality of theoretical research and criticism of literature and arts to properly assess and evaluate the value of works and authors, discover new values, participate in adjusting, orienting, and forecasting the movement and development of literature and arts and guide public opinion; fight against creative tendencies that follow trivial tastes or are contrary to the Party's cultural and artistic guidelines.

Continue to promote the effectiveness of the provincial arts and culture awards; maintain and expand provincial competitions, exhibitions, and festivals; and participate in regional and national competitions in the Mekong Delta region to honor works and works of art and culture that are valuable in terms of ideology, content, and artistic form. Promote and disseminate cultural and artistic works to the public in many forms, contributing to improving the cultural and spiritual life of the people.
