Sharing with Thanh Nien , Mr. Huynh Tan Dat, Deputy Director of the Plant Protection Department (Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development), said that 17 shipments, with a total weight of over 82 tons of lychee, have been certified as eligible for export to Japan.
Japanese people are excited to try Vietnamese lychees at the Vietnam - Japan Festival in Tokyo on June 3 - 4.

According to Mr. Dat, in 2021 and 2022, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Japan temporarily authorized Vietnam to supervise the treatment and quarantine of lychees exported to this country.
This year, the Covid-19 epidemic has been controlled, so in early June, Japanese experts came to Vietnam to participate in controlling and certifying lychee batches exported to the Japanese market. The Plant Protection Department also worked with Japanese experts to supervise and carry out plant quarantine procedures right at processing facilities, creating conditions for the export of lychees quickly and effectively.
Mr. Huynh Tan Dat also said that it is forecasted that this year lychee exports to Japan will grow positively, and businesses will have more orders than in previous years.
According to Mr. Nguyen Phi Thoan, CEO of JV Solutions Company (Japan), the first batch of 5 tons of lychee from Vietnam tested by this enterprise in early June received the attention of many partners and customers and had good consumption in Japan.
"Lychee is being sold in retail stores and supermarkets in Japan at a price of about 400,000 VND/kg," said Mr. Thoan.
Previously, on June 3-4, during the Vietnam Festival in Japan, held at Yoyogi Park, Tokyo, the Vietnam Trade Office in Japan opened a booth giving away free lychees to attendees and was well received by many Japanese people and Vietnamese people in Japan.
Japanese business delegation visits lychee growing area in Thanh Ha district, Hai Duong province on June 15
On June 15, the Vietnam Trade Office in Japan coordinated with a number of businesses to bring nearly 30 businessmen and representatives of Japanese businesses to Hai Duong and Bac Giang to survey lychee growing areas and plan for purchasing and exporting.
During this trip, Japanese businesses introduced to localities the technology of fermenting lychee into nutritious drinks; processing lychee into dried products and cosmetics to diversify products processed from lychee, thereby helping this fruit have higher economic value.
Informing Thanh Nien , Mr. Ta Duc Minh, Commercial Counselor, Head of the Vietnam Trade Office in Japan, said that from June 23 to 25, the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Hanoi People's Committee co-chaired and coordinated with the Vietnamese Embassy in Japan, and the Japanese Aeon Group, to organize the 2023 Vietnamese Goods Week, aiming to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Japan. During this event, Vietnamese lychees will be promoted and sold at Aeon supermarkets in Japan.
