"Patching" the defense, MU negotiates to buy defender Goncalo Inacio

MU is reportedly ready to activate the clause to buy back defender Goncalo Inacio from Sporting Lisbon for 60 million Euros in the winter transfer window, January 2024.

According to JM Jornal , MU is promoting to bring Goncalo Inacio back in January. Due to spending restrictions by financial fair play law, the Red Devils are negotiating with the Portuguese club to gradually pay the transfer fee.

More specifically, Goncalo Inacio, who has an agreement with Sporting until the summer of 2027, has a release clause of 60 million Euros.

For now, MU proposes to pay 45 million Euros and the remaining 15 million Euros will be included in additional fees. Sportling is said to be ready to let Inacio go.

However, it is unknown whether they will accept such an offer from the Red Devils, especially when this player is also of interest to Liverpool, Real Madrid and Newcastle.

Coach Erik ten Hag really needs to "patch up" MU's defense due to the strong impact of injuries. In the center-back position, Lisandro Martinez is out until the end of the year, while Raphael Varane recently lost his starting position to Harry Maguire due to injury and unstable physical condition.

The remaining two names, Victor Lindelof and Jonny Evans, are okay, although they don't really create peace of mind for MU's backline, where the wings also have "wounded soldiers".

There is information that MU is ready to sell Raphael Varane to the Saudi Pro League in January 2024, while the French midfielder is no longer interested in staying at Old Trafford and wants to escape the "mess".

MU is currently ranked 6th in the Premier League with 21 points after 12 matches.

In the Champions League, they are in a very precarious situation, having fallen to the bottom of Group A with only one win and three losses, while Bayern Munich have already secured their ticket early after four straight wins.
