On August 24, at the Indonesian Ambassador's residence in Vienna, Austria, the ASEAN Family Day event took place.
This event is part of a series of activities to celebrate the 57th anniversary of ASEAN's founding, aiming to strengthen solidarity and friendship between the Permanent Delegations of ASEAN member countries.
ASEAN Family Day is also an opportunity for countries to introduce and promote the image of the ASEAN Community, the unique culture, cuisine and national costumes of each country.

The ASEAN Committee Vienna (ACV) was established in 2007, with each country serving as the rotating Chair for 6 months. Indonesia is currently the ACV Chair for the second half of 2024.
Speaking at the ceremony, Indonesian Ambassador Damos Dumoli Agusman emphasized that this is a meaningful activity, demonstrating that ASEAN is a family in Southeast Asia, and affirmed that the event will contribute to strengthening solidarity and mutual understanding among ASEAN countries.
On this occasion, ACV officially bid farewell to Vietnamese Ambassador Nguyen Trung Kien and Thai Ambassador Vilawan Mangklatanakul at the end of their term of office.

At the end of the speech, the Indonesian Ambassador and the Ambassadors of ASEAN countries performed the Tumpeng cake cutting ceremony. This is a traditional Indonesian cake, often cooked and displayed in the Selamatan ceremony on important occasions in Indonesia to express gratitude to heaven and earth as well as pray to the gods to protect and care for individuals, families and related organizations.

The Permanent Mission of ASEAN countries in Vienna contributed many special performances including songs and dances. Traditional food stalls provided “precious energy” for everyone to sing and dance in the beautiful late summer weather in the capital city of Vienna.
