USD weakens severely
Today, December 28, 2023, USD VCB continued to increase slightly by 10 VND in both buying and selling directions. The world USD weakened severely, trading at 100 points.
The central VND/USD exchange rate announced by the State Bank today is adjusted to 23,885 VND/USD, up 15 VND compared to the closing price of the trading session on December 27.
Currently, the exchange rate allowed for trading by commercial banks ranges from 23,400 - 25,029 VND/USD. The US Dollar exchange rate has also been set by the State Bank of Vietnam in the buying and selling range from 23,400 to 25,029 VND/USD.
The USD exchange rate at banks and domestic foreign exchange rates this morning recorded a series of upward adjustments at banks. Specifically, Vietcombank has a buying price of 24,110 and a selling price of 24,480, an increase of 10 VND compared to the trading session on December 27. The current USD buying and selling prices are in the range of 23,400 - 25,300 VND/USD.
Gold price increases rapidly, close to 80 million VND/tael
Domestic gold is anchored at a high level around 79.5 million VND/tael, while world gold continues to increase strongly.
At the time of survey at 5:00 a.m. on December 28, 2023, the gold price on the trading floors of some companies was as follows:
DOJI listed the price of 9999 gold at 77.80 million VND/tael for buying and 79.50 million VND/tael for selling.
At Mi Hong Gold and Gemstone Company, at the time of survey, the listed price of SJC gold was at 77.90 - 79.20 million VND/tael (buy - sell).
SJC gold price at Bao Tin Minh Chau Company Limited is also traded by the enterprise at 77.90 - 79.45 million VND/tael (buy - sell). Meanwhile, at Bao Tin Manh Hai, it is being traded at 77.80 - 79.70 million VND/tael (buy - sell).
According to Kitco, the world gold price recorded at 5:00 a.m. today, Vietnam time, was at 2,077.595 USD/ounce. Today's gold price is 9,455 USD/ounce different from yesterday's gold price. Converted according to the current exchange rate at Vietcombank, the world gold price is about 60.183 million VND/tael (excluding taxes and fees). Thus, the price of SJC gold bars is still 17.617 million VND/tael higher than the international gold price.
The price of "black gold" increased sharply, the highest was 85,000 VND/kg.
Pepper prices in the Central Highlands and Southeast continue to increase sharply, with traders purchasing at 81,500 - 85,000 VND/kg.
Specifically, pepper prices in the Central Highlands increased by VND1,000/kg, fluctuating from VND81,500 - VND84,500/kg. Of which, Chu Se pepper price (Gia Lai) was purchased by traders at VND81,500/kg, Dak Lak pepper price and Dak Nong pepper price were purchased at VND84,500/kg.
Meanwhile, in the Southeast region, pepper prices ranged from 82,500 - 85,000 VND/kg. Of which, Ba Ria - Vung Tau pepper was purchased at 82,500 VND/kg, an increase of 1,500 VND/kg; Binh Phuoc pepper was purchased at 85,000 VND/kg, an increase of 1,000 VND/kg.
Thus, from the end of November 2023 onwards, pepper prices in key regions have continuously increased sharply. Pepper prices peaked in the past month at VND 86,000/kg in Dak Lak and Dak Nong.
According to the preliminary report of the General Department of Customs, exports in the first half of December 2023 reached 10,069 tons of pepper of all kinds, with a turnover value of 37.80 million USD, and the cumulative export volume by mid-December 2023 reached 255,681 tons, up 35.32% in volume and 0.72% in value over the same period last year. The average export price of pepper in the period reached 3,755 USD/ton, down 2.19% compared to the average export price in November 2023.
