The source said the Ukrainian drone targeted a warehouse operated by the Russian Defense Ministry in the city of Toropets, which stores Iskander tactical missile systems, Tochka-U tactical missile systems, guided air bombs and artillery shells. Toropets is located about 500 kilometers from the Ukrainian border and about 400 kilometers west of Moscow.

Regional authorities said large fires were sparked by debris from the drone, prompting Governor Igor Rudenya to order a partial evacuation of the area early Wednesday morning.
Earthquake monitors now believe that the explosions from the drone strike may have created seismic activity. Ben Dando, a seismologist at the Norwegian seismological research organization NORSAR, said that the organization's sensors "detected seismic signals, with magnitudes ranging from 2.5 to 2.8, in northwestern Russia, which appear to be related to the drone strike carried out by Ukraine."
NORSAR, which has been using seismic monitors since 2022 to assess the impact of the war in Ukraine, is now analyzing preliminary data to grasp the full scale of the explosion, Dando added. X

NASA satellites also detected intense heat sources emanating from an area about 5 square miles at the site early Wednesday morning.
Russia's TASS news agency also reported that a drone attack was carried out in the city of Toropets last night, causing a fire "due to falling debris".
Videos circulating on social media verified by several major news agencies showed loud explosions and several buildings in the warehouse complex on fire. TASS cited local authorities as saying that no civilians were injured in the drone attack.
