Germany has officially delivered nine Boxer RCT30 infantry fighting vehicles equipped with AiTO30 FDC mobile fire control centers with powerful anti-UAV capabilities to Ukraine.
According to Army Recognition (Belgium), Germany has officially delivered 9 Boxer RCT30 infantry fighting vehicles with integrated AiTO30 FDC mobile fire control centers to Ukraine. These vehicles are specially designed to counter threats from unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), supporting the protection of artillery units. This is an important step to improve Ukraine's defense capabilities against air and ground threats.

The Boxer RCT30 is equipped with a 30mm MK30-2/ABM automatic cannon, capable of engaging both stationary and mobile targets. The unmanned turret provides 360-degree rotation, elevation from -10° to +45°, along with a coaxial machine gun and a SPIKE LR guided missile system. Features such as programmable explosive rounds, a laser warning system and anti-drone capabilities improve combat performance in a variety of situations.
The Boxer RCT30 is expected to work effectively with the RCH 155 Boxer self-propelled howitzers, providing firepower, troop transport, short-range air defense and counter-drone capabilities. This system is particularly important in the context of threats from ZALA Lancet loitering munitions that have destroyed Ukrainian heavy weapons, such as the CAESAR and AHS Krab self-propelled howitzers. Ukraine has implemented countermeasures, including installing protective cages around the guns, to minimize damage.
In terms of development history, the Boxer RCT30 inherits and develops from combat platforms that combine air defense and infantry support, such as the Soviet BMP-2 or the American M6 Linebacker. With an 815-horsepower MTU 8V199 TE21 engine, the vehicle reaches a maximum speed of 100 km/h and has an operating range of more than 700 km. Modular armor and C4I systems allow integration into tactical networks, supporting a crew of three and six infantrymen.
The assistance is part of Germany’s military aid program to Ukraine, which includes production, upgrades and training for operators. Ukraine’s ambassador to Germany, Oleksii Makeiev, stressed that vehicles such as the Boxer RCT30 and the RCH 155 howitzer will play an important role in strengthening Ukraine’s military capabilities.
Since 2008, the Boxer platform has been adopted by many countries around the world in various configurations. Germany plans to purchase an additional 150 Boxer RCT30 vehicles by 2029, while the Netherlands, Lithuania and Australia are also expanding their use of the vehicle. The United Kingdom has ordered a total of 623 Boxers in 11 different roles, demonstrating the strong appeal of this modern combat vehicle on the international stage.
