In its latest update, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine said that on June 10, the country's air force carried out 18 attacks on Russian manpower concentrations and air defense missile systems, Ukrinform news agency reported. According to the ministry, Russia lost 980 soldiers on the same day.

Kyiv accused Moscow of carrying out 92 air strikes and 45 attacks with multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS) on a number of fronts and residential areas in Ukraine on June 10. There were civilian casualties in the airstrikes and the risk of an attack on Ukrainian territory remains very high. Russia has not commented on the information and has not announced Ukrainian casualties.

Russia withdraws from some areas in Kherson?

Ukraine’s Deputy Defense Minister Hanna Maliar said on June 11 that Russia was moving combat-ready units, mainly marines and paratroopers, out of Kherson province, Ukrinform reported. Moscow did not comment on the information.

Ms. Maliar continued to accuse Russia of attacking the Nova Kakhovka hydroelectric power plant (Kherson region). According to her, the purpose of the Russian forces' explosion has become clear. She said that with the losses and limited reserves of Russia, it "cannot hinder the Ukrainian counterattack in various directions". Therefore, Moscow decided to "narrow" the front of the battle.

Meanwhile, the TASS news agency, citing information from the pro-Russian authorities in Kherson, said that on the night of June 10 and early morning of June 11, the Ukrainian army fired 30 artillery shells at settlements in the province. The number of civilian casualties and damage to infrastructure is being determined.

Also in Kherson, TASS reported that Russian forces destroyed a Ukrainian Osa-AKM air defense system along with its five-member crew and ammunition. In the direction of Nova Kakhovka (Kherson), Russian forces said they "cleared out" a temporary deployment site of the Ukrainian army, eliminating 10 soldiers and destroying two vehicles.

Ukraine boasts of victory in Bakhmut

Reuters news agency quoted the Ukrainian General Staff as saying that the country's army had repelled Russian attacks around the two cities of Bakhmut and Maryinka that Moscow controls in Donetsk province. According to the ministry, Russian forces "continue to suffer heavy losses but they are trying to hide them".

Ukrainian artillery fires towards the front line near Bakhmut in April

General Oleksander Syrskyi, commander of the ground forces - the overall commander of Ukraine's counteroffensive operation, posted a photo on social media of an explosion that he said killed a group of Russian soldiers near Bakhmut.

Ukrainian military spokesman Serhiy Cherevatyi also reported new advances near Bakhmut: "We are trying... to launch attacks on Russian positions. We are counterattacking. We have advanced by 1,400 meters in different areas of the battlefield."

Meanwhile, Vadim Astafiev, a representative of the Yug military group (Russia) fighting in southern Ukraine, told TASS that his group successfully repelled Ukrainian attacks in the direction of Bakhmut and Soledar (Donetsk).

Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov said on June 11 that Russian forces on June 10 neutralized a Ukrainian reconnaissance and sabotage group and killed up to 60 Ukrainian soldiers in Lyman City (Donetsk) and an ammunition depot in nearby Luhansk province, according to TASS.

Pro-Russian separatists in Donetsk also accused Ukraine of carrying out 35 shelling attacks and firing 222 shells at residential areas. According to the separatist authorities, Ukraine used multiple rocket launchers, as well as 152mm and 155mm artillery, to carry out the attacks.

The number of people taken to hospital after the collapse of the Nova Kakhovka hydroelectric dam has increased to 77, TASS quoted Vladimir Saldo, the Russian-appointed head of Kherson, as saying. They are being provided with all necessary medical care.

Russian rescuers search for people in flood-affected areas

Meanwhile, according to CNN, after the Nova Kakhovka dam collapse, waste drifting along the Dnipro River is turning the Black Sea coast in Odessa province into a "garbage dump and animal cemetery."

“A lot of mines, ammunition and other explosives are being carried into the sea and washed ashore,” the Ukrainian Interior Ministry said. Ukrainian border guards also found a large number of dead fish floating around the area.

The collapse of a hydroelectric dam in southern Ukraine on June 6 was one of the biggest industrial and ecological disasters in Europe in decades. The disaster destroyed entire villages, flooded farmland, deprived tens of thousands of people of electricity and clean water, and caused massive environmental damage.

Oleksandr Prokudin, the Ukrainian official who heads the Kherson military government, advised people to only drink bottled water or clean water brought in from outside, because the concentration of toxic substances in water samples is 10 times higher than the permissible standard.

Meanwhile, Russia said more than 23,228 homes in 20 settlements in the Kherson region were flooded after the dam burst. According to Russia, the destruction of the Nova Kakhovka hydropower plant caused serious environmental damage, washed away agricultural fields and threatened to dry up freshwater in the Crimean peninsula, which it annexed from Ukraine in 2014. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov called the attack on the Nova Kakhovka hydropower plant an act of "deliberate terrorism" by Ukraine. He added that the Kyiv government was responsible for all consequences, according to TASS.
