On September 19, Binh Duong province held a ceremony to hand over the decision to dismiss and appoint the Rector and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Thu Dau Mot University (under the People's Committee of Binh Duong province) to Dr. Nguyen Quoc Cuong and Dr. Doan Ngoc Xuan.
According to the decision of Binh Duong Department of Home Affairs, Dr. Nguyen Quoc Cuong, Party Secretary and Principal of Thu Dau Mot University, was appointed as Chairman of the University Council (term 2023-2028) to replace Dr. Doan Ngoc Xuan, who was dismissed as Chairman of the University Council and appointed as Principal.
Previously, in August 2023, Dr. Doan Ngoc Xuan (former Director of the General Economic Department, Central Economic Committee) was introduced by the People's Committee of Binh Duong province to run for election and was elected as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Thu Dau Mot University, replacing Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Van Hiep who retired according to the regime.
Dr. Nguyen Quoc Cuong (former Director of Binh Duong Department of Science and Technology) was appointed as Principal of Thu Dau Mot University from January 2021, replacing Dr. Nguyen Thi Nhat Hang who was transferred and appointed as Director of Binh Duong Department of Education and Training.

Answering the question of Thanh Nien reporter why the Principal and Chairman of the Board of Thu Dau Mot University had to change their positions after more than 1 year of appointment, Dr. Nguyen Quoc Cuong said that according to regulations, the Chairman of the Board of the University must hold the position in the Party as Secretary of the Party Committee of the University.
"Because I was elected to hold the position of Secretary of the Party Committee of Thu Dau Mot University for the 2020-2025 term, I was recommended to be elected to hold the position of Chairman of the Board of Directors of Thu Dau Mot University according to regulations to perfect the organizational structure," Dr. Nguyen Quoc Cuong further explained.
