On the afternoon of November 15, Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade held a conference on enrollment orientation for 2025, with the participation of many representatives from universities and departments of education and training in the South.

Consider whether to organize the V-SAT exam and consider admission

Speaking at the conference, Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Xuan Hoan - President of Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade - said that the school plans to join 18 universities nationwide in organizing exams and using the V-SAT exam as a database for the 2025 admissions season to diversify recruitment sources.

"However, the Ministry of Education and Training has just confirmed that V-SAT is not a test of the ministry, so we have to reconsider whether we need to participate in organizing the exam or use the results of this exam or not," Mr. Hoan shared.

Mr. Hoan also officially announced that in 2025, Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade and Ho Chi Minh City University of Education will join hands to organize a specialized competency assessment exam.

Accordingly, Ho Chi Minh City University of Education is the host, as the unit providing test sites and resources for organizing the test at the Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade test site.

"If you want to apply to our school, you can register to take a specialized competency assessment exam in one or several subjects.

After the results are available, candidates only need to use the score of one subject to combine with the high school academic results (report cards) of two other subjects in the admission combination," Mr. Hoan added.

Expanding opportunities for candidates in block C and other admission groups

According to Dr. Thai Doan Thanh - Vice Principal of Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade, there are expected to be many changes in the subject combinations for the 2025 admission season, expanding opportunities for candidates in group C and other combinations.

New majors will have additional admission combinations in block C, such as combination C00 (literature, history, geography) and C03 (literature, mathematics, history), creating opportunities for candidates with a foundation in block C to access many different professions at the school.

Based on 2025 admission data, the school offers a variety of subject combinations to meet the needs of candidates.

Some major subjects that frequently appear in admission combinations include: Mathematics - considered a major subject in fields such as information technology, accounting, banking and finance, and engineering;

Literature is found in fields related to management and society such as tourism and travel services management, economic law.

While English is a core subject in majors such as English language and Chinese language, reflecting the need for foreign language skills in language majors.

"Choosing a variety of admission subject combinations will help candidates be more flexible in the school registration process, especially for those who want to pursue language majors or have an inclination towards block C.

This not only opens up more opportunities for candidates but also helps schools select students with the capacity and background suitable for each major," said Mr. Thanh.

Using V-SAT test results, no test yet

Regarding Tuoi Tre Online 's report that V-SAT is not an exam of the Ministry of Education and Training, Dr. Nguyen Quoc Anh - Vice Principal of Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HUTECH) - said that this year HUTECH and Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics and Finance mainly use V-SAT exam results and do not plan to organize the exam, because organizing a university entrance exam is quite complicated.

MSc. Le Van Hien - Head of the University Training Department of Ho Chi Minh City University of Law - also said that in 2024, the school signed an agreement to cooperate in organizing exams and sharing the results of the V-SAT university entrance exam.

However, in the 2024 enrollment period, the school has not yet included the V-SAT exam results in the enrollment plan, so the results of this exam have not been used in the enrollment process. In 2025, the school will include the V-SAT exam score in the enrollment plan for enrollment.
