On the afternoon of July 12, Deputy Prime Minister Le Minh Khai met with ministries and branches on the Project to restructure the Vietnam Posts and Telecommunications Group (VNPT) by 2025.
Speaking at the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister Le Minh Khai said that although some of the restructuring contents of VNPT in the 2018-2020 period have not achieved the set goals, the group's production and business results associated with the development trend of digital transformation and the 4th industrial revolution are noteworthy.
Deputy Prime Minister Le Minh Khai emphasized that in the coming time, VNPT needs to become a strong corporation, with leading products that keep up with trends and can compete with countries around the world.
Therefore, restructuring VNPT to be closer to the actual situation and national digital transformation strategy to meet development needs is necessary.

VNPT Group clearly stated the restructuring contents including charter capital and restructuring of capital, assets, and finance of VNPT; innovation in digital enterprise governance according to international practices; restructuring the organizational structure of VNPT in the period of 2021-2025 such as merging 2 enterprises into the Group's parent company; restructuring and innovating human resource management; digital transformation; restructuring of the shareholding block.
In addition, reorganize and select overseas investments; add business lines (digital finance, Mobile Money); reorganize the resources of VNPT (provincial telecommunications) and VNPT-Vinaphone (provincial business center) at the provincial level into one unit; form a Center for sharing resources on a group-wide scale to improve operational efficiency; review and streamline the management block, enhance the leadership and supervision role of the Party organization at VNPT.
At the meeting, a representative of the State Capital Management Committee at enterprises presented a report on receiving and explaining comments from ministries and branches on the Project to restructure the Vietnam Posts and Telecommunications Group by 2025.
Representatives of the Government Office and ministries and branches acknowledged the results VNPT has achieved in production and business activities in recent times.
At the same time, give opinions on the contents of VNPT stated in the Restructuring Project such as: On the goals of building and developing the group; proposing to add business lines (Mobile Money, digital finance); on the authority to amend VNPT's charter; merging subsidiaries into the parent company of the Group; handling plans for employees after the merger; investing abroad.
Regarding the proposal to merge a subsidiary into a parent company (100% state-owned), based on the consensus of ministries and branches, Deputy Prime Minister Le Minh Khai requested the State Capital Management Committee and VNPT Group to comply with the provisions of the Enterprise Law.
Along with that, Deputy Prime Minister Le Minh Khai requested the State Capital Management Committee at Enterprises to urgently receive comments from ministries and branches; complete the content of documents, officially submit to the Prime Minister for consideration and approval of the VNPT restructuring project until 2025 on schedule assigned by the Prime Minister (before July 15), ensuring quality and compliance with legal regulations.
