Deploying police work tasks in 2024

This afternoon, January 3, the Provincial Police held a conference to review the police work in 2023 and deploy tasks for 2024. Speaking at the conference, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Vo Van Hung requested the Provincial Police to continue to be a pioneer and exemplary in implementing the resolutions of Party congresses at all levels; promote the core role, closely coordinate with Party committees, authorities at all levels and the entire population to protect national security, ensure social order and safety, thereby creating a safe and healthy security environment to attract investment, implement socio-economic development projects, and ensure national defense and security of the province.

Along with that, proactively grasp, analyze, evaluate, and forecast the situation closely and accurately, promptly advise the Party Committee and the government to effectively and thoroughly handle complex potential factors early and from afar, not to be passive or surprised by any situation. In particular, the police work needs to closely follow and effectively serve the tasks of economic development, attracting investment, ensuring economic security of key projects, promoting administrative reform, improving the business environment, especially solutions to improve and enhance the provincial competitiveness index.

The police force needs to be more drastic in implementing plans and measures to fight and prevent crime, resolutely "not to be behind criminals" as well as innovate propaganda and legal education work, focus on social prevention work, promptly address the causes and conditions for crime to arise right at the grassroots level.

Effectively combat all types of criminal, drug, and economic crimes, especially murder, intentional injury, smuggling, commercial fraud, high-tech crimes of property fraud, crimes of taking advantage of socio-economic development policies for personal gain, and drug crimes.

The provincial police continue to closely follow the requirements and progress of projects and Project 06 of the Government, provide online public services, digital transformation, build e-government, digital society with high results, at the same time strengthen the replication of advanced models and typical examples in the movement of the whole people to protect national security; overcome limitations and shortcomings in detention management, and do a good job of reintegrating into the community for those who have completed their prison sentences.

Further improve the quality and effectiveness of coordination and cooperation between the Provincial Police and armed forces in the area and departments, branches and local authorities in implementing the goals and tasks of Party building, political system building and socio-economic development.

After analyzing and forecasting the situation in the coming time as well as the requirements for the Quang Tri police force, Deputy Minister of Public Security, Lieutenant General Le Quoc Hung assigned 8 specific tasks in all aspects of work to the provincial police, including strengthening leadership, creating determination and breakthroughs to achieve results in Party building and building the police force to meet the requirements of the tasks in the new situation.

The report of the Provincial Police Department stated that in 2023, closely following the leadership and direction of the Ministry of Public Security, the provincial leaders, the close coordination between the armed forces, departments, branches, organizations, Party committees and authorities at all levels, and the active support of the people, the police force of the whole province successfully carried out the task of ensuring security and order, contributing to maintaining political stability, effectively serving the tasks of socio-economic development and foreign affairs of the locality.

In 2023, the provincial police investigated and solved 265 cases of social order crimes, arrested and handled 390 subjects, reaching a rate of 88.03%, 13.03% higher than the target assigned by the National Assembly; prosecuted 294 cases/410 defendants, administratively handled 250 cases/720 subjects; the rate of investigation and solving very serious and especially serious cases reached 96.9%, 6.9% higher than the assigned target.

Several cases of public concern were investigated and clarified, and suspects were quickly arrested; organized crime gangs were not allowed to form; 12 wanted suspects were arrested and persuaded to surrender, including 6 dangerous and especially dangerous wanted suspects.

The forces proactively identify and detect new methods and tricks of committing crimes in economic activities with many potential violations such as in bidding, land, health, finance, smuggling, and trade fraud to focus on fighting and handling; prosecute many cases and large-value smuggling rings.

In 2023, the Provincial Police discovered 462 cases/456 subjects, seized goods worth more than 11.5 billion VND, prosecuted 85 cases/95 defendants, administratively handled 343 cases/334 subjects. Focusing on fighting crimes and violations of environmental laws, arrested and handled 184 cases; prosecuted 3 cases/6 defendants, administratively handled 180 cases/4 organizations/197 individuals...
