On November 28, the Economic and Urban Newspaper held a ceremony to summarize the communication program and award prizes for the writing contest on "Environmental protection in Hanoi in 2024".
This is an important event of the communication program "Environmental protection in Hanoi in 2024", organized by the Economic and Urban Newspaper in coordination with the Department of Natural Resources and Environment, according to Plan No. 117/KH-UBND dated April 15, 2024 of Hanoi City.
According to the Organizing Committee, the total number of entries this year is 2,976, an increase of 616 compared to 2023 (2,360 entries), nearly 10 times higher than the first year - 2020 (299 entries).
Mr. Nguyen Thanh Loi, Head of the Organizing Committee, Editor-in-Chief of Economic and Urban Newspaper spoke at the ceremony.
The entries focus on four main topics: waste classification and treatment; improving the environment of rivers, lakes and craft villages; air pollution and environmental protection initiatives and actions of organizations and individuals in Hanoi.
After 3 rounds (preliminary, preliminary and final), the Organizing Committee has found 16 best articles and series of articles to award prizes.
Speaking at the closing and award ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Loi, Head of the Organizing Committee, Editor-in-Chief of the Economic and Urban Newspaper, said: 2024 is the 4th year that the writing contest on "Environmental protection in Hanoi in 2024" has been organized and is the 2nd year that it has been upgraded to a communication program on "Environmental protection in Hanoi".
"Although the contest was launched in a short time, just over 5 months, and was heavily affected by storm No. 3, this year's contest still received the attention and participation of a large number of readers nationwide," said Mr. Loi.
Vice Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee Nguyen Trong Dong and delegates launched the 2025 program.
Speaking at the ceremony, Vice Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee Nguyen Trong Dong assessed that this year's program was successful in spreading the message, promoting practical and effective solutions, helping the capital develop more and more sustainably.
Mr. Nguyen Trong Dong suggested that the Economic and Urban Newspaper and the Hanoi Department of Natural Resources and Environment strengthen close coordination to further improve the quality of communication programs on environmental protection in Hanoi, and organize more events to spread the program.
To continue this success and build solid steps for the future, Vice Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee Nguyen Trong Dong launched a communication program on Environmental Protection in Hanoi in 2025.
"With the motto "For a green - clean - beautiful and sustainably developed capital, I call on departments, agencies, units, businesses, press agencies, and all people of the capital to continue to join hands to further improve the quality and effectiveness of the program," said Mr. Dong.
