At 4pm, it started to rain heavily in Ho Chi Minh City. By 4:30pm, it was pouring down. Almost all districts and counties had heavy rain during rush hour.
By 5 p.m., the rain in some areas had eased but the sky remained gray.

Ba Thang Hai Street (District 10) was still raining sporadically until nearly 7 p.m., with many minor collisions between vehicles due to difficulty moving after the heavy rain.
Earlier, at nearly 4 p.m., the Southern Hydrometeorological Station reported that satellite cloud images, weather radar images and lightning positioning showed that thunderstorms were developing and causing rain with thunderstorms and lightning in the districts of Cu Chi, Can Gio, Binh Chanh and Thu Duc City.
Thunderstorms also gradually develop in Long An and Tay Ninh provinces and move towards Ho Chi Minh City area.
A few hours later, the thunderstorm continued to develop, expanding to the areas of districts 12, Binh Tan, Hoc Mon, Nha Be and the central districts of Ho Chi Minh City and causing rain. Rainfall was generally from 10-25 mm, in some places over 30 mm.
