Ho Chi Minh City builds 4,500 classrooms to celebrate 50th anniversary of Southern Liberation Day

On the afternoon of April 10, at the Press Conference on socio -economic issues in Ho Chi Minh City, Ms. Nguyen Minh Bach Lan - Deputy Chief of Office of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training said that the Department is implementing a series of key programs, notably the Project to build 4,500 classrooms and build 50 digital schools.

By the end of the first quarter of 2025, the entire city had completed 16 projects with 395 classrooms. It is expected that by the end of 2025, 44 projects will be completed with 839 classrooms put into use. In 2026, the Department plans to complete 60 projects with 1,402 classrooms.

In addition to implementing investment projects under the Project to build 4,500 classrooms, the Department of Education and Training conducted a statistical review across the city from the beginning of 2024 to the end of 2025, with about 1,430 additional classrooms put into use. This includes 10 investment projects from the local budget with 164 classrooms (completed and put into use) and 1,266 classrooms from socialized investment sources of individuals and organizations in society.

According to the representative of the Department of Education and Training, in the digital transformation roadmap of theeducation sector, one of the notable highlights is the emulation movement to build 50 digital schools. 390 units in the area have registered to participate. The criteria for recognizing digital schools have also been issued by the Department of Education and Training as a basis for evaluating, recognizing and replicating the model. In addition, the Department is also implementing a project to build 50 Smart Libraries to give to students in the city.

Ms. Bach Lan added that the highlight of the series of activities to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Ho Chi Minh City Education and Training Festival with the theme "50 years of educational innovation: Imprint of the times - Aspiration for the future". The program is expected to be held in November 2025 with many diverse activities.
