TPO - According to the Department of Information and Communications of Ho Chi Minh City, in celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025), in the coming time, the city will build 3 new book streets to develop an increasingly deep reading culture.
Three new book streets will be built in District 7, Binh Tan District and Cu Chi District. Once completed, the new Book Streets will create more reading spaces, connecting with existing book streets such as Nguyen Van Binh Book Street (District 1) and Thu Duc City Book Street to create an "ecosystem" of reading culture, contributing to making Ho Chi Minh City a typical and representative address for cultural activities, tourism and publishing activities, developing reading culture.
The new Book Streets are expected to be built by the end of 2024 and operational by April 2025.

The book streets are part of the key projects of Ho Chi Minh City: "Building book streets and book spaces in the city, contributing to the development of reading culture for Ho Chi Minh City residents" and "Equipping 5 million books for facilities" in the city. The projects aim to promote the development of reading culture more and more widely in the community.

In addition to building new book streets, the Department of Information and Communications of Ho Chi Minh City will mobilize social resources, striving to have 5 million books available to every citizen in the area by the end of 2025, including: school libraries, continuing education centers and libraries in 21 districts and Thu Duc City.
In addition to developing a reading culture, the Department of Information and Communications also coordinated with the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City to implement the program "50 smart libraries given to students in the city" with the goal of creating a space and conditions for students and teenagers to interact, promote thinking activities, creative skills through activities of the space to experience modern scientific and technological equipment and combine with forming reading habits for teenagers, while meeting the needs of facilities in the current period.
