According to the announcement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, at the invitation of President Vo Van Thuong, President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev will pay an official visit to Vietnam from June 11 to 13, 2023.
This is President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev's first visit to Vietnam since taking office in 2019, and also the first visit to Vietnam in 12 years by a Kazakh president.
The visit takes place in the context of the traditional friendship between Vietnam and Kazakhstan continuing to develop well. In 2022, the two countries celebrate the 30th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations.
Vietnam and the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), of which Kazakhstan is a member, signed a free trade agreement in 2015. Since then, bilateral trade turnover has grown positively, averaging about 28% per year. Kazakhstan is Vietnam's second largest trading partner in the EAEU.
Regarding investment, Kazakhstan has 5 FDI projects in Vietnam, with a total registered capital of about 500,000 USD.
Vietnam and Kazakhstan established diplomatic relations on June 29, 1992. In July 2008, the Vietnamese Embassy in Kazakhstan officially opened. On March 30, 2015, Kazakhstan opened its Embassy in Vietnam.
