The meeting was held on the sidelines of the P4G Summit, with the participation of representatives from many UN agencies and Resident Coordinators working in the region. This is the first time the UN has chosen Vietnam as the venue for this important meeting mechanism, demonstrating Vietnam's growing role in multilateral cooperation and strong commitment to the sustainable development goals.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Deputy Foreign Minister Do Hung Viet affirmed Vietnam's strong support for multilateralism and the central role of the United Nations. The Deputy Minister emphasized that Vietnam appreciates the valuable companionship and support that the United Nations has given to Vietnam throughout its development process.
Vietnam is currently among the top 40 countries with the largest economies in the world, with very effective contributions from UN agencies. The Deputy Minister said that Vietnam's contribution to the UN's general budget has doubled, and affirmed that Vietnam will continue to be a responsible member, proactively and actively participating in the common work of the international community, promoting the good meaning from the results of Vietnam's participation in UN peacekeeping activities.

The Deputy Minister said that strategic competition, policy and trade instability, and supply chain disruptions are negatively affecting the growth prospects of countries, including Vietnam, but are also opportunities for countries to restructure their economies towards less dependence and greater self-reliance. The Deputy Minister supports reforming the UN development system towards greater efficiency, enhancing the leadership role of the Resident Coordinator, considering this the priority communication channel of the Government when it is necessary to consult, coordinate, and share information with the UN. Deputy Minister Do Hung Viet also emphasized that UN organizations need to cooperate with the Resident Coordinator to support the Government in implementing national priorities and responding to emergency situations.
On this occasion, the Deputy Minister proposed that the UN increase support for Vietnam's priorities in science, technology and innovation, digital transformation, green transformation, and encourage partners to soon implement projects within the framework of the Just Energy Transition Partnership (JETP).

The UN Deputy Secretary-General agreed with the Deputy Minister on the need to continue to strongly strengthen the activities of the UN. The Deputy Secretary-General especially appreciated Vietnam's support for the "One UN" initiative, emphasizing that the good relationship with Vietnam is the result of a long-term cooperation process that needs to be maintained, strengthened and developed. She affirmed that the UN, through its Coordinators, will continue to support Vietnam as well as countries in the region in developing and implementing priorities and strategies appropriate to the national situation on the basis of mutual understanding and trust, especially in the context of the current unstable and unpredictable world situation.
* After the Opening Ceremony, Deputy Minister Do Hung Viet and the UN Deputy Secretary-General also had a meeting and in-depth discussion to concretize the major contents and cooperation orientations that the President and Prime Minister discussed with the Deputy Secretary-General at the previous meeting.
