Contribute youth, affirm self-worth

After the “shock” of failing the university entrance exam, Mr. Tran Gia Bao worked as a factory worker for a year before deciding to go to college to study industrial electronics. To affirm his own value, in addition to striving to achieve good academic results, he also actively participated in Youth Union activities, being a member of the Executive Committee of the Youth Union of Dong Nai Technical College.

Mr. Gia Bao participates in almost all volunteer activities launched and organized by the Youth Union and Student Association. He is striving to achieve the title of 5 Good Students at the provincial level.

When the only dream is broken

Since childhood, Gia Bao's only dream was to become a police officer. To realize this dream, he tried very hard in his studies. Especially, in grade 12, he focused all his efforts on the important exam for both graduation and university admission and Gia Bao only had one wish: the People's Police University.

The day he received the results, the young man's heart skipped a beat because he was only 0.5 points short of his dream. Nearly 3 years have passed, but when he recalls it, his voice is still full of regret. Disappointed with the results, Gia Bao planned to go to Japan to work, but then he changed direction to work in a mechanical workshop. At this time, his parents encouraged him to go to vocational school to have a more stable and secure job.

Mr. Gia Bao decided to change direction and choose to study industrial electronics at Dong Nai Technical College. “I chose this major because I have a passion for programming. Pursuing industrial electronics, I can design electronic circuits for application in industrial machinery,” he shared.

From his dream of becoming a police officer to entering vocational college, studying one year behind his peers, Gia Bao could not help but feel inferior and self-conscious. However, with a sense of responsibility for himself, he tried hard, focused on studying well and worked part-time to cover his living expenses. In his second year, he joined the Youth Union and became a dynamic and highly regarded Youth Union officer.

Change yourself, contribute your youth

During his high school years, Gia Bao hardly participated in extracurricular activities and was not confident in communication. He never thought that one day he would become a Youth Union officer and be active and confident. However, the decision to "try and contribute his youth" completely changed him.

Mr. Gia Bao recalled: “When I was in my second year, the school’s Youth Union held its new term congress. I was the class’s Youth Union Secretary, ran for election and was elected to the School’s Youth Union Executive Committee. Since then, I have participated in many activities organized by the Youth Union and the Association such as: Spring of Love, Green Summer, voluntary blood donation, Green Sunday, Dong Nai Student Journey to the Homeland’s Islands...”.

During school activities, he participated in the media committee, taking charge of taking photos, editing clips, and occasionally coming up with content ideas and writing posts on the school's fanpage. Gia Bao expressed: "For me, writing propaganda articles is somewhat difficult because I have to find a writing style that is appropriate to the event content and the recipient. To overcome this, I often refer to the writing style on the official fanpages of the Youth Union, the Provincial Student Association, etc. In addition, when I am "stuck", I use artificial intelligence tools to get suggestions, then edit them accordingly."

After a period of participating in the Youth Union, Mr. Gia Bao realized that he had many positive changes: more confident, more proactive in everything, and self-control. Now, looking back on the journey he has gone through, he feels happy with his choice and proud of what he has accomplished.

Mr. Gia Bao shared his personal goal: “I want to devote my youth and strive to join the Party. This year, I strive to achieve the title of 5 Good Students at the provincial level.”

According to Mai Duc Anh, Secretary of the Youth Union of Dong Nai Technical College, Gia Bao is striving to achieve the title of 5 Good Students at the provincial level. He has met 4 criteria: good ethics, good physical strength, good integration, good volunteering; the good study criteria will be updated in June, however, with his current score and academic performance, he will achieve this criterion.

Secretary of the Youth Union of Dong Nai Technical College MAI DUC ANH commented: “Tran Gia Bao is an active student, active in studying and in Youth Union activities. He is in charge of communications so he is very resourceful and knows how to use technology to suit the Gen Z generation.”
