The fire broke out on June 8 and has engulfed 60,000 hectares of forest in the Abay province in eastern Kazakhstan, Sputnik Kazakhstan reported, adding that it is the world's largest forest fire in terms of area. The fire has left three forest rangers dead and 11 people missing.
President Tokayev is expected to inspect the area affected by the forest fire, hold an emergency meeting with local authorities and take necessary measures to support residents. The Kazakh Ministry of Defense has deployed forces to fight the fire, including eight multi-purpose helicopters to drop water on the fire.
Kazakhstan is a Central Asian country with an area of over 2.7 million square kilometers and a population of over 19 million people. It is an important transit hub for goods by land from Asia to Europe. Vietnam and Kazakhstan established diplomatic relations on June 29, 1992. Last year, the two countries celebrated the 30th anniversary of the establishment of relations.
