On the afternoon of January 15, the Department of Science and Technology of Ho Chi Minh City held a ceremony to summarize and award the 7th Ho Chi Minh City Invention Awards, honoring individuals and organizations with inventions and scientific research that have been commercialized, contributing to promoting the development of the technology market and socio-economic development.

Summary and award ceremony of the 7th Ho Chi Minh City Invention Award

The 7th Ho Chi Minh City Invention Award (2022-2023) was launched in September 2022. The Organizing Committee received 33 entries, of which 30 were shortlisted for the judging round in areas such as food processing, forestry, agriculture, environment, medicine, mechanics and automation.

This year, there were no first and second prize winners; there were 4 third prize winners and 4 consolation prize winners, specifically:

Third prize belongs to the inventions: Synchronous pulse compensation mechanism for Servo motor (group of authors Nguyen Phi Bang, Nguyen Duy Ba); Dynamic balancing device for rotating parts (University of Technology - Ho Chi Minh City National University); Equipment for producing gas from rice husk (Center for Research and Development of Industrial Machinery Technology, Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry); Process of producing macrobiotic bird's nest products in packaged form and ready-to-use (group of authors Tran Thi Lieu, Phan Tran Duc Lien).

The organizing committee awarded certificates of merit to the third prize winning inventions.

Encouragement prizes were awarded to the following inventions: Process of preparing nano-curcumin crystals dispersed in a solution at high concentrations by wet grinding method (High-tech Park Research and Development Center); Mud scraper (Ho Chi Minh City Urban Drainage Company Limited); Artificial foot with multi-axial ankle joint (Ho Chi Minh City University of Technical Education); Method of determining the geographical origin and relative age of formation of natural amber (author Le Ngoc Nang).

According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Hue, Deputy Director of the Department of Science and Technology of Ho Chi Minh City, in 2024, the department will continue to launch and receive applications for the 8th Ho Chi Minh City Invention Award. To improve the quality of the award, the Department of Science and Technology of Ho Chi Minh City hopes to receive more applications from inventors, businesses, schools, institutes, and research centers, in order to contribute to promoting innovation in Ho Chi Minh City in particular and Vietnam in general.

The Ho Chi Minh City Invention Award was launched by the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Science and Technology in 2008 and is held every two years. The aim is to promote innovation, scientific and technological progress among people, organizations and enterprises to improve capacity, quality, efficiency, and create new values ​​to promote production and business. In addition, it also promotes the increase in the number of patent applications and utility solutions, creating a basis for commercialization and transfer of creative investment results to industries.
