With the theme “The role of higher education institutions in realizing Resolution 57/NQ-TW on science, technology development, innovation and national digital transformation”, this national event gathered representatives of leaders of universities, colleges, state management agencies, leading experts and innovative enterprises to realize Resolution 57-NQ/TW.
The conference is an important forum to strengthen connections between higher education institutions, policy-making agencies and innovative enterprises in the synchronous implementation of national strategies on science, technology development, innovation and national digital transformation.
At the conference, Professor, Dr. Su Dinh Thanh, Director of Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics, emphasized that Resolution 57 has special significance for the education sector, because higher education institutions must both train high-quality human resources at international standards and carry out scientific research, technology and innovation activities to anticipate and master the most advanced technologies.

Resolution 57 has opened a new chapter for Vietnamese higher education with many opportunities and challenges. The synergy between higher education institutions, businesses and the community, along with the spirit of continuous innovation, will help the university system make worthy contributions to the development of science, technology, innovation and national digital transformation.
At Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics, innovation and startup activities are not only limited to students but have expanded to middle and high school students, Vietnamese and Southeast Asian startups through training programs, startup competitions, incubation and startup acceleration programs, etc.
To date, Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics has supported and incubated more than 150 startup projects, with about 40% of the projects having established companies and the total seed stage investment capital reaching nearly 700,000 USD.
“These achievements affirm the continuous efforts of Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics in building and developing a sustainable innovative startup ecosystem,” said Professor, Dr. Su Dinh Thanh.

At the conference, experts and scientists focused on discussing the following contents: Resolution 57 and the perspective of participation of higher education institutions in implementing the Resolution; strategic human resources for national innovation; methods of promoting innovation in parallel with public university autonomy; the system of policies for developing innovation in the university sector; new focuses of Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics with the Government's new policy on developing innovative universities; building criteria for innovative universities: World and Vietnam.
From the above discussions and analyses, experts have made recommendations to clarify the strategic role of the higher education sector in effectively implementing Resolution 57, from the perspective of planning, implementation and spreading impact.

Within the framework of the conference, there was also a "Certificate Awarding Ceremony for members of the New Vietnam University and College Innovation and Entrepreneurship Network", marking the expansion of the network, increasing cooperation and spreading the culture of innovation in the Vietnamese higher education ecosystem.
At the same time, propose a framework of initial assessment criteria for "Innovative University", supporting educational institutions in self-assessment, strategic positioning, promoting sustainable development of the innovative university model in the context of autonomy and integration.
