(CLO) The BRICS Summit took place in Russia from October 22 to 24 in the Russian city of Kazan. Here is a brief summary of the results of the Summit:
India and China reach border agreement
Chinese President Xi Jinping and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi met just two days after New Delhi said it had reached a deal with Beijing to resolve a four-year military standoff on their Himalayan border.

Many leaders of countries attended.
In addition to the heads of state of the official member states attending (except for the President of Brazil, who attended online for health reasons), the Summit invited dozens of other world leaders, including President Tayyip Erdogan of Türkiye. UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres also attended.
Many countries expressed their desire to join.
Russian President Vladimir Putin said more than 30 countries have expressed interest in joining BRICS, including NATO member Turkey. Most recently, European Union (EU) candidate Serbia said it is exploring the possibility of joining BRICS instead of the EU.
Call for ending Russia-Ukraine conflict through diplomacy
BRICS leaders raised the issue of the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, calling for diplomatic solutions to end the fighting. "We remain concerned about the escalation of violence and the ongoing armed conflicts in many parts of the world," the summit statement said.
BRICS Payment System
BRICS presented joint projects ranging from grain exchanges to cross-border payment systems. "We recognise the broad benefits of faster, lower-cost, more efficient, more transparent, more secure and more inclusive cross-border payment instruments built on the principles of reduced trade barriers and non-discriminatory access. We welcome the use of local currencies in financial transactions between BRICS countries and their trading partners," the summit statement said.
Prevent the spread of war in the Middle East
President Putin told BRICS leaders that the Middle East was on the brink of a full-scale war following Israel’s increasingly violent fighting in Gaza and Lebanon, as well as sharply rising tensions between the country and Iran. BRICS leaders reaffirmed their commitment to resolving disputes peacefully through diplomacy.
