I started quite well, at times I was close to the leading position after 10 shots. But then I only shot 3/5 bullets hitting the bullseye in each series, while my opponent was too good, shooting 4/5 bullets consistently, so I fell behind. I was unlucky and could not surpass myself when I only shot 3-3-3, meaning every 5 bullets went to 3 while other shooters like those from Korea or France shot very well.

What can Thu Vinh say about the final round, why was the result not as expected?
Shooter Trinh Thu Vinh: Shooting in the finals is like the beginning, you can't use the qualifying round results as a measure. Especially the bullets must hit the bull's eye, from 10.2 or more to be considered a hit, not just shooting into the 10-point box like in the qualifying round to get points. If you shoot only into the 10-point box but not completely inside, you won't get points. Because of that strict requirement, it is a huge challenge, making it difficult for shooters to shoot accurately in all the shots. I tried my best, but out of 25 shots, I only hit 16 times. This shows that my technique is not perfect yet, I need to improve.

There is information that Thu Vinh had shoulder pain before the shooting day, so did that affect the result?
Shooter Trinh Thu Vinh: I had a slight shoulder pain before the women's 10m air pistol competition, but I told myself to try to suppress the pain to overcome it all. Compared to my previous achievements, I had quite good results in both Olympic competitions. That shows that in the past time, I have made good adjustments to my methods and competition tactics according to the coach's instructions as well as being more mentally stable. It's just a pity that at the decisive moment, I didn't have enough courage to overcome the pressure to be able to bring home a medal for shooting. I'm still in a daze, as if I had just let something precious slip away when I didn't succeed in my two events.

After the Paris Olympics, what does Thu Vinh plan for the future?
Shooter Trinh Thu Vinh: Female shooters are easily caught up in family matters, so I also have to take time to arrange my training time so as not to affect my next efforts. I will have the opportunity to do it again and am determined to aim for a place in the 2028 Olympics. To do so, I will try to improve my technique and gain more battle experience to have stable results and progress in regional and continental competitions. The immediate goal is the Asian Indoor and Beach Games in Thailand this November. I hope to have good results to create momentum for the future.
