The highlight of round 19 is the confrontation between Dong A Thanh Hoa and The Cong Viettel (6pm, April 19). The result of this match could change the situation of the leading group, directly affecting the championship race this season.
To ensure objectivity and high professionalism, VPF invited two Thai referees, Warintorn Sassadee and Mongkolchai Pechsri, to officiate the match at Thanh Hoa Stadium. One will take on the role of main referee, the other will be in charge of the VAR room.
Just one day later, referee Warintorn Sassadee continued his duties in the match between Song Lam Nghe An and Quang Nam (6pm on April 20). Accompanying him at Vinh Stadium was Razlan Joffri Bin Ali - a Malaysian FIFA referee - who had previously officiated the match between Hanoi FC and Thanh Hoa in round 17.
Among the three “black jersey kings”, Mr. Mongkolchai Pechsri is a familiar name to V.League fans. This FIFA referee has officiated many matches in Vietnam, typically: Binh Duong vs Thanh Hoa (2016), Long An vs Viettel (2017), SHB Da Nang vs Saigon (2022), Ho Chi Minh City vs SHB Da Nang (2023).
In addition to the Thai League, he also regularly officiates at the AFC Champions League and international tournaments at the national team level. At the AFF Cup 2024, he was the fourth referee in the 1-1 draw between the Vietnam and Philippines teams.
His compatriot Warintorn Sassadee is also not a stranger. He officiated the match between Dong A Thanh Hoa and Terengganu (Malaysia) in the group stage of the Southeast Asian Cup this season.
Meanwhile, referee Razlan Joffri Bin Ali, in addition to the round 17 match this season, also officiated the match between SHB Da Nang and Binh Duong in V.League 2023.
Inviting experienced foreign referees shows VPF's determination to improve the quality of refereeing, ensuring fairness and professionalism for the final stages of the season.
