According to this veteran Cambodian journalist, this is the right choice of the Communist Party of Vietnam, thereby helping to strengthen the trust not only of the Vietnamese people but also of foreign investors.

From the perspective of veteran reporter Kola, the late General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Nguyen Phu Trong, former Editor-in-Chief of the Communist Magazine and also a famous writer, was the one who launched this anti-corruption campaign. Mr. Kola enjoyed reading the articles and pondering the thinking of the late General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, especially the saying "there are no forbidden zones" in the fight against corruption and negativity in Vietnam. Veteran journalist Kola believes that this affirmation has helped strengthen the trust not only of the Vietnamese people but also of foreign investors so that they continue to come to invest, create jobs and help the Vietnamese economy grow strongly.

Recently, journalist Khieu Kola has frequently appeared on CNC TV channel's commentary and analysis programs on topics related to Vietnam, especially around anti-corruption activities. Sharing with reporters, Mr. Kola said that he had just conducted a commentary program on the role of the successor in the fight against corruption in Vietnam: General Secretary To Lam. The contents of the meetings and work of the current General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam with the leaders of 63 provinces and cities nationwide on anti-corruption work, in his capacity as head of the Central Steering Committee on Anti-Corruption, were closely followed by Mr. Kola.

Mr. Kola recalled the speech of General Secretary To Lam at a conference held late last year. At that time, General Secretary To Lam frankly acknowledged the difficulties the country was facing and determined that in order to turn Vietnam into an upper-middle-income country, it was necessary to continue to promote the fight against corruption resolutely, without any forbidden areas. This determination of the head of the Communist Party of Vietnam really impressed Mr. Kola. He said: “I really like it, because purity is the 'weapon' of communists, not armored vehicles, guns or grenades. Purity is a good 'weapon' because people in any country always love clean officials.”

In addition, the veteran Cambodian reporter also expressed support for the “positive points” in the way corruption crimes are handled in Vietnam. Corrupt individuals are brought to court for trial according to the level of violation, but with mitigating circumstances taken into account, rather than trying to eliminate them. Such sentences show leniency towards those who have made mistakes but have repented.

As a reporter who has worked for many local and international press agencies in the capital Phnom Penh, fluent in many foreign languages and regularly following the Vietnamese press, Mr. Kola realized that the press and media in Vietnam also have many important contributions to the fight against corruption. He expressed his support for the press in Vietnam and affirmed that he will continue his analysis and commentary on related topics, as long as organizations and people trust and listen to him.

Referring to the role of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Mr. Kola recalled President Ho Chi Minh's saying about the qualities of "diligence, thrift, integrity, and uprightness". President Ho Chi Minh is affectionately called Uncle Ho by the Vietnamese people. He required cadres and party members to be clean in order to gain the people's trust and participation in order to achieve the spirit of "people know, people discuss, people do, people inspect".

According to Mr. Kola, the Communist Party of Vietnam is strong because of its army and patriotic people. The fight against corruption is the choice that helps the Communist Party of Vietnam continue to be trusted by the people to become stronger and stronger. He said: "I would like to affirm that the Vietnamese people's trust in the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam in the fight against corruption is a 'weapon' that is more powerful than tanks and millions of soldiers. When we are clean and good, we will be loved by the people."
