Dynamic Union cadres
Nguyen Thu Trang (born 2001, Hai Phong) is currently a 4th year student, Faculty of Real Estate Appraisal and Management, Moscow National Research University of Civil Engineering . Trang has been studying this major since high school, then accidentally learned about the Russian study abroad program and decided to apply, and was accepted.
This female student, born in the year of the Snake, has just started learning Russian in the land of Aries and has a preparatory year to improve her foreign language skills. She focuses on learning knowledge in the textbook and doing basic exercises in Russian, as well as regularly communicating with teachers and classmates; reading newspapers, listening to news and TV programs.

To achieve excellent academic results , Trang said that she was not only determined to quickly overcome the language barrier but also set specific goals and plans for each subject. Once she understood some of the knowledge that the lecturers shared in class, self-study and research would be much easier.
“I listened to lectures, took notes in Russian in class, read and translated Russian textbooks myself, and then read more Vietnamese documents to be able to apply knowledge from abroad to practice in the country,” Trang said.
Not only has excellent academic achievements, Thu Trang is also an active face in extracurricular activities organized by the Youth Union and Student Association. She is currently the head of the Vietnam - Russia Arms Club (under the Vietnamese Student Association in Russia) with more than 70 members and regularly organizes volunteer activities such as: donating clothes, visiting nursing homes, distributing humanitarian meals... in Russia, as well as many volunteer activities to raise funds for Vietnam. Notably, there is the project to build a computer room in 2024 at Coc Chom school (Cao Bang) with a scale of 100 million VND.
“I was honored to be admitted to the Party in my third year of university, after a period of continuous effort and training. The Party Committee, the Vietnamese Embassy in Russia, and directly the Executive Committee of the Youth Union - Vietnamese Student Association in Russia always create conditions for Vietnamese youth and students to have the opportunity to become outstanding people, and be introduced to the Party ranks,” Trang said.
As Secretary of the Youth Union and Interim President of the Vietnamese Student Association of Moscow National Research University of Civil Engineering, Trang has had many initiatives and efforts to develop activities at the facility to connect and create a training environment for Vietnamese union members and students.
She said: “Although my school does not have a large number of Vietnamese students , I always try to maintain annual activities at school on special occasions such as holidays, Vietnamese-Russian New Year, sports activities to maintain traditions, welcome and support new students, as well as create a friendly environment so that international students do not feel overwhelmed when away from home but can still develop and live fully like in Vietnam."

Take the exam and celebrate Tet at the same time
After nearly 5 years of studying abroad, Nguyen Thu Trang has celebrated Lunar New Year away from home for 2 years.
She shared that most of the activities related to Lunar New Year are organized by the schools themselves. Here, talking about Tet means meeting and welcoming the New Year at a slightly different time with brothers, sisters, and friends at school; decorating together to have peach trees, apricot trees, or banh chung, banh tet like Tet in Vietnam. Tet lucky money is a gift that the organizers secretly prepare for the members to receive as a surprise.
Trang added: “There were years when Tet came early, we both took exams and celebrated Tet. Although we felt a little sad and missed the family reunion atmosphere, everyone tried their best to complete their studies well. This year, because the exam time was reasonable, I returned to Vietnam to celebrate Tet with my family.”
In the new year of At Ty 2025 , female student Nguyen Thu Trang said that she will try to complete her studies well and graduate to return home, as well as spend time to have new experiences in Russia.
“This year also marks the milestone of my 24th birthday, an age when I am an adult and need to set certain goals for myself. I also need to return and settle down soon when I return to Vietnam with a mindset of being ready to learn and ready to adapt,” Trang said.

The average GPA for the 2023-2024 school year is 4.69/5.0. In 2024, she is the Head of the Organizing Committee of the "Mam" Book Festival 2024, held annually in response to Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day; participating in and completing the "Youth Footprints" 2024 race; official delegate to the World Youth Festival in Sochi, Russia; head of the fundraising project "For Beloved Hoang Sa - Truong Sa" launched by the Vietnamese Student Association in Russia in response to World Oceans Day and Vietnam Sea and Islands Week.
Up to now, Nguyen Thu Trang has received many awards such as: Certificate of Merit from the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union for "having outstanding achievements in the work of the Youth Union and youth movements in the Russian Federation in 2023"; Certificate of Merit from the Executive Committee of the Youth Union in the Russian Federation for "having outstanding achievements in the "School Construction" Fundraising activities in the period of 2023-2024"; The Central Committee of the Vietnam Student Association awarded the title "5 Good Students" .
