On November 4-5, the 9th Congress of the Ho Chi Minh City Youth Union (HCMYU) for the 2024-2029 term took place at the City Youth Cultural House with the participation of more than 400 delegates, representing more than 2.35 million young people in the city named after Uncle Ho.

Among the 441 official delegates of the Congress, there are many young people who are artists, athletes, and outstanding young businessmen who have made tireless efforts to contribute and dedicate themselves to movements, volunteer activities as well as other areas of social life in Ho Chi Minh City. At this working session, Mr. Nguyen Kim Quy - Permanent Vice President of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Youth Union acknowledged the contributions and achievements of the City Youth Union in the past term, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. Mr. Quy also affirmed his pride in the glorious tradition of the youth generation, from the fierce war years with the "3 ready" and "5 volunteer" movements to today, when the city's youth show dynamism and creativity. The "I love my Fatherland" movement continues to be the spiritual flame and motivation for the youth to constantly contribute to the civilized and modern city.

The Central Committee of the Association expressed its hope that the city’s Association will continue to be a bright spot and pioneer in the youth movement of the whole country; maintain its role in supporting local Association organizations and always innovate in activities and programs to spread the strength of youth to all parts of the country.

Addressing the younger generation, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Ho Hai said that in the current context, building a strong Association that is truly an organization of the youth, by the youth, for the youth is extremely difficult. Therefore, the Association's leaders must think deeply, constantly innovate the content and methods of operation so as not to go slow, not to fall behind the needs and trends of the youth.

“First of all, we need to innovate association activities, promote collective members of the Association, expand the youth solidarity front by profession and social class with truly meaningful activities, act as a bridge to attract young people who are studying, working, and working in all fields, young people who are religious followers, ethnic minorities, and overseas Vietnamese,” Mr. Hai suggested.

Previously, sharing in the opening session of the Congress, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Secretary of the Party Delegation, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City Nguyen Phuoc Loc emphasized that as exemplary youths, young people will spread and inspire other youths to join hands and contribute to the development of the Association, associated with the development of Ho Chi Minh City. In addition, the Association will also be a place to gather and unite all youths in the spirit of great national unity.

Within the framework of the Congress, more than 400 delegates participated in discussion groups on issues of interest to young people such as innovation, career development; building a green environment - green lifestyle; arousing patriotism in each young person...

The Ho Chi Minh City Youth Union Committee, term IX, 2024 - 2029, consisting of 79 members, has been introduced to take up its duties. The Congress also consulted and elected Mr. Ngo Minh Hai - Secretary of the City Youth Union, Chairman of the Association, term VIII, to continue holding the position of Chairman of the Association, term IX. Along with that, the Congress consulted 9 other brothers and sisters to hold the position of Vice Chairmen; 25 members participated in the Secretariat.

At the Congress, the Ho Chi Minh City Youth Union was honored to receive the Third Class Labor Medal from the President for its outstanding achievements in organizing and implementing summer volunteer campaigns for the city's youth, contributing to the cause of building socialism and defending the Fatherland.

Along with that, many other collectives and individuals also received valuable awards from the Prime Minister, Central Youth Union, Central Vietnam Youth Union, and Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee.
