Reorganizing tourism development space

(VLO) On August 16, 2022, the People's Committee of Vinh Long province issued Decision No. 1657/QD-UBND approving the Project on restructuring the tourism industry in Vinh Long province to meet the requirements of developing into an important economic sector by 2025. Accordingly, one of the important tasks is to reorganize the development space of Vinh Long tourism, based on the similarities of each cluster, in order to promote the strengths of specific tourism products.

Vinh Long City Center and vicinity

Continue to promote the value of national historical relics in the area to attract tourists to visit, especially the Van Thanh Temple Festival in Vinh Long City, which has been included in the list of National Intangible Cultural Heritage in 2024.

Recently, the tourism industry has tried to renew tour products by bringing hát bội to perform at the cultural space of Văn Thánh Temple, creating an impression on tourists. At the same time, it has been highly appreciated in famtrip programs.

In the period of 2022-2024, tourism businesses in Vinh Long City will continue to improve service quality, thereby many conferences and seminars inside and outside the province and region will be held locally on a large scale, attracting tourists - MICE tourism (over 30 meetings).

Many events, tourism activities, entertainment activities held in Vinh Long city were visited and experienced by many people and tourists such as: organizing the 2nd and 3rd Vinh Long Provincial Tourism Festival; organizing amateur music performances on the river; hot air balloon and flyboard performances; opening of T&T walking street, annual activities to celebrate the Party and Spring, provincial and regional sports competitions, etc.

Many projects serving tourism development have been put into operation, contributing to tourism development in the area such as: The longest red ceramic and flower road in Vietnam, Water music park in Ward 9, Vinh Long city; Vinh Long passenger port; The largest traditional 3-room, 2-wing house made entirely of Vinh Long red ceramic in Vietnam; Red ceramic miniature landscape house at Vinh Long passenger port, etc.

Activities integrated into major cultural events of the province create positive effects, attracting a large number of tourists from near and far.

Island communes of Long Ho district

Ecotourism and resort homestays continue to be identified as key products of Vinh Long in recent years. In 2023, homestays in An Binh commune won the ASEAN Homestay Award, this is the third time homestays on An Binh commune island have won the award, affirming the "cradle" of homestays in Vinh Long in the region.

Successfully organized the Ceremony to honor homestays that won the ASEAN Homestay Awards, contributing to promoting the local tourism brand.

In addition, CocoHome Coconut House - the province's tourist destination (2021) won the Vietnam Coconut House Award in 2023, and is one of the 50 typical tourist destinations of Ho Chi Minh City and provinces and cities in the Mekong Delta in 2024; Vinh Sang Tourist Area was recognized as a tourist destination of the province in 2022. These are the highlights that attract more and more tourists to An Binh Commune Islet.

In addition to improving the quality of existing tourism products, the locality has recently coordinated with relevant sectors to conduct surveys to prepare for building a community tourism model in the area. Currently, the locality has formed a number of new products such as: Folk cake week; Garden library associated with tourism spots; Burning coconut leaf torches to watch opera.

Affirming that homestay is a traditional strength, the product line has existed for over 4 decades. Therefore, businesses are constantly striving to innovate, upgrade products, diversify services to attract new customers, and retain tourists to stay longer.

It is necessary to continue to strengthen night services, which are considered too poor - this is also a common weakness of the region and of domestic tourism. We do not have rich activities, especially at night, to help tourists have places to have fun, entertain, and spend during their stay in the locality.
