With about 3 weeks left until the April 30 - May 1 holiday, the domestic airfare market has recorded a sharp increase in prices on many popular routes. A survey on online booking sites shows that round-trip fares from Ho Chi Minh City to Hanoi from April 27 to May 1 range from 5-7 million VND, with some flights even costing more than 9 million VND, depending on the airline and departure time.

Many flights to tourist destinations such as Ho Chi Minh City - Da Nang, Hanoi - Phu Quoc also recorded high prices, averaging 4-6 million VND round trip, nearly double compared to normal days. Notably, some flights such as Hanoi - Con Dao, Ho Chi Minh City - Quy Nhon are in a state of scarcity of tickets at good times, forcing passengers to choose late or very early flights to save costs.

Ms. Nguyen Thu Hang, Thang Nhat Ward, Vung Tau City said that she planned to return to Hanoi during the holiday but checked and found that the ticket prices were too high, even for economy tickets. If she bought checked baggage, the cost would increase even more. "A family of four, the round-trip ticket alone cost more than 24 million VND, not including luggage," Ms. Hang shared.

According to aviation experts, it is not unusual for airfares to increase sharply during the holidays. The main reason is the sudden increase in travel demand, while fuel and operating costs remain high. In addition, airlines apply flexible pricing policies according to supply and demand, so when low-class tickets are sold out, passengers only have the option of higher prices.

Plan early, choose flexibly

Although it is inevitable that airfares will increase during the holidays, there are still many ways for passengers to make their trip less of a burden. The simplest and most effective solution is to plan ahead. When planning a trip, book your tickets as early as possible to avoid the mentality of waiting until the day of travel to buy, which can easily lead to "sold out" tickets or being forced to choose a high price.

In addition, instead of flying to expensive tourist destinations, many families tend to choose to stay in nearby places, easily accessible by car or train. Ho Tram, Long Hai, Binh Chau (Ba Ria - Vung Tau), Da Lat or Phan Thiet, Nha Trang are ideal destinations for short vacations. From Vung Tau City, it only takes 1 - 5 hours by private car or bus to enjoy a relaxing vacation while still saving a significant amount of money.

Faced with rising ticket prices during the holidays, many passengers choose to plan early and be flexible with their schedules to ensure a smooth and comfortable trip.

With the development of transport infrastructure, especially connecting expressways such as Long Thanh - Dau Giay, Ben Luc - Long Thanh (under construction), traveling by road is increasingly convenient, helping passengers be more proactive in choosing their journey.

In addition, passengers can still save money if they proactively plan and book tickets 1-2 months before the peak season. This is still the most effective solution to avoid falling into the situation of "buying late, paying high prices".
