Tim Cook arrived in Beijing on October 21. This is the Apple CEO's second visit to China this year.
According to posts on Weibo and local media, CEO Tim Cook met with photographer Chen Man, as well as students from China Agricultural University and Zhejiang University at a farm in Beijing.
In a post on October 22, the Apple chief said he visited an Apple Store in the center of the capital to meet with customers and company employees.
This is Cook's second trip to China this year. In March, he visited Shanghai, met with several major suppliers and opened the 57th Apple Store on the mainland.
According to SCMP , the trip reflects the Apple CEO's efforts to listen to one of the largest markets, where consumers are showing indifference to the iPhone 16 because of the delay in Apple Intelligence.
While the company is preparing to release iOS 18.1, which will bring a suite of AI features to users, it has yet to announce an AI partner in China.
Meanwhile, Apple's rivals are pushing artificial intelligence on their devices. Earlier this year, Samsung announced the integration of Baidu's AI model into the Galaxy S24.
Local brands such as Xiaomi, Oppo, Vivo are also actively promoting AI functions such as creating images, text, videos, meeting user needs.
Under Cook's latest post, some Chinese netizens called for a quick launch of Apple Intelligence here.
Previously, the Apple boss shared that he had to understand the legal regulations before committing and have a roadmap to bring AI features to iPhone users.
As of August, China had approved a total of 188 generative AI services, all of which were developed domestically.
