Our observations on the morning of January 28, 2025 at flower spots in Nui Thanh district and Tam Ky city such as Road No. 2 (An My ward), Hoa Huong ward area, Hung Vuong (Tam Ky), Nguyen Hoang bypass intersection (Tam Xuan 1 commune) still had quite a lot of chrysanthemums, primroses, dahlias, marigolds... but not many customers came to buy.
To recover capital, many retailers decided to hang up discount signs and sell off their products to attract customers to buy flowers for Tet.
Mr. Tran Xuan Vu (Hoa Huong ward) sells chrysanthemums on Hung Vuong street (Tam Ky) shared that this time he imported 300 pots of crystal chrysanthemums, with a total capital of more than 40 million VND.
“Up to this point, I have only sold half of the flowers, so I have not recovered enough business capital. I hope that customers will come to buy flowers this afternoon and evening to support me, but I don’t know what to do now. This year, there are many people selling ornamental flowers, so the consumption of Tet flowers is slower than in previous years,” Mr. Vu worried.
Mr. Nguyen Van Phu (Hoa Lang village, Tam Ngoc commune) came to buy Tet flowers and shared: "Every year when Tet comes, I choose to buy flowers to decorate my house to make it more beautiful.
“I have been busy cleaning the house these past few days, and now I have time to come and buy a pair of chrysanthemums for 800,000 VND. There are many beautiful flowers, but the space to display them is limited, so I only bought that much,” said Mr. Phu.
While potted flowers are slow to sell, many customers choose to buy flowers for offerings and decorations. A bouquet of gladiolus costs between 50,000 and 80,000 VND, and lilies cost more than 150,000 VND/bouquet...
Slow flower consumption is understandable. This year, economic life is still difficult, so people are "tightening their belts" in spending money to buy flowers and other items for Tet.
