Tien Phong Marathon 2025: Do Quoc Luat extends record, 11 consecutive championships

The race on the 10km qualifying track was dramatic from the start. Do Quoc Luat took the lead early, but aware of potential threats, he often glanced to the side to monitor his rivals, including Le Tien Long and Nguyen Viet Ai. There were times when Nguyen Viet Ai took the lead, but immediately, the Tien Phong Marathon record holder took the lead again, maintaining his lead.

In the second half of the race, while Le Tien Long was left behind, Nguyen Viet Ai ran side by side with Do Quoc Luat and then overtook him, forcing his senior to run faster. Despite the rain and cold weather, when passing the water stop, Do Quoc Luat still poured water on himself. The race between the two athletes from the Army team was really tense and promised many surprises. Especially when Viet Ai maintained a steady pace and was full of determination.

However, with only a few hundred meters left, as usual, Do Quoc Luat performed a spectacular sprint, taking long strides and surpassing his teammates, then reaching the finish line first with a time of 30 minutes and 44 seconds.

And it happened again, when Do Quoc Luat finished first for the 11th consecutive time.

Seizing the goal tape has become a hard-to-break habit for Do Quoc Luat.

Thus, Do Quoc Luat successfully defended his championship title and extended his record of 11 consecutive first-place finishes in the 10km distance of Tien Phong Marathon. Not only did he maintain his dominance, he also succeeded in his goal of becoming an inspiration and motivator for the younger generation.

“This year is the first year that Tien Phong Marathon has been without Mr. Bui Luong, the icon of the tournament as well as Vietnamese athletics,” the 32-year-old athlete told Tien Phong newspaper, “For many years, Mr. Bui Luong has always devoted himself to imparting knowledge and passion, as well as becoming an example of discipline and perseverance. Now that he has passed away, I want to continue to pass on the torch to the next generation, encouraging them to actively train properly to have good health and contribute more to society and the country.

I am very happy to run with young athletes, share with them what I have experienced, encourage them to create new records, promote the movement, and develop Vietnamese sports."

In 2025, Do Quoc Luat has another motivation. The Major of the Border Guard Command said: “This year is very special because the tournament takes place in Quang Tri right at the time when the whole country celebrates the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South, National Reunification and the 80th anniversary of the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.

Quang Tri is a sacred land, where many heroes and martyrs have fallen, exchanging their blood and bones for peace and national independence. Therefore, the tournament is even more meaningful to the Army - Border Guard Command as well as the entire army."

This is the reason why Do Quoc Luat celebrated with a military salute at the finish line, after making a heart shape as usual.
